I don't drive the car for daily errands etc. It is usually out for infrequent, long road drives or on the track. I usually want a look at the oil level gauge if I'm not going to use the dipstick, so 30 secs is required for that. If I am using the dipstick, it idles longer of course. I have never seen the smoke at the track, and maybe 1-2 times a year otherwise.
