Were is the ignition control unit located on our cars? Also does anyone know a test procedure as I can not seem to find one in the Shop manual?

The ignition system in the 993 is an inductive ignition system and the ECU contains the ignitor or ignition circuit inside the DME. You can use an oscilloscope to test the coil dwell to see if it is operating properly.

That's the case for the '96-'98 993 with the 88 pin DME. The early 993 ('95) has an
external module similar to the 964s located under the driver's seat.
