Since kb doesn't want to play , kennyboy, is that a picture of your car in your avatar? If so, what is the story with the "S model??" air intake in the hip on your C4S?
personally, i have no idea what the max button does. it sounds like it should turn up the ac to some maximum setting, but i can't really tell the difference when i turn it on (maybe because by the time i hit that button i already have the ac fan on the highest setting)
Just to hijack this one, mine cuts out occasionally. I have the AC on, hit the max button and it blows at full for a little bit, cuts back to the #2 setting, starts again...
I don't think it should work like that, what should I look at first?
Hey, look at that, search on 'AC max' and then reading through someone having similar problems found "http://p-car.com/diy/acdiag.html"
All A/C setting will set the car on recirc. Max sets the fan on 4, air on recirc, windshield and footwell vents closed, defrost off, temp full cold, compressor on. So, for example, if you had the A/C on but NOT the max button, you could direct cold air to your feet. With MAX, so it says, it closes those vents.

Hi Jeff - yeah specified by the original owner when he bought it.... Turbo S scoops... don't do nowt but they look great on a grand prix white car!

Doesn't the lower slider lever thing close the footwell vents?
Yes, but the MAX button is your one stop shopping, do it all at once button. That is why they say to use MAX for testing the vent temps, not just full cold. That way they KNOW you are in the exact config to get the most cooling possible.

Ignore this one also ^
Are you sure this is the same problem? Seems different.
Mine also cuts back to lower fan settings occasionally while on max, seems to happen mostly at idle.
