I drive a Boxster and a 993. I have noticed that people talk to me when I'm in the Boxster. At the Gas pump, at red lights (top down) , ect. They dont when I'm in the 993. What gives? I have a BIG smile on my face when I'm in both cars. I also noticed on my cross country trip in the 993 that people on the highway seemed Rude . I have never gotten this in the Boxster. ????? Are 993 drivers seen as arogant ? Boxster drivers not?

Maybe they look at you in the Boxster and wonder, "Why the hell is that guy driving that when he has a 993 at home?!"
I do sometimes think about what others think when I make an "aggressive" move in traffic now that I drive the 993 as opposed to my SUV. I would make the same move in either car but I assume now I'm, 'That ******* in a Porsche!'

Boxster's create admiration coz they're less flash, less expensive, more within the aspirations of many....
911's (especially curvy, beautiful 993's) create jealousy coz they're soo flash, expensive and out of reach?
massive generalisation of course....

I think we give the general public way more credit for "thinking" at all about our cars.......
I travel a lot in the US and Canada, and never see anyone talking with anyone else at a gas station. If you glare at everyone and growl now and then, you can keep it that way.

Back to the topic at hand, despite memberships, tubetops and Matt's near perfection.
We had a Boxster for the missus and our college age children to use.
My wife thought it was cute, and she looked really good in it, but came to dislike the very low seating position. Kids weren't driving it much.
I started driving it to work occasionally, just so it got some use. Like Slider, I got all kinds of smiles, thumbs up and questions about it. Much more so than in the 993s.
Very approachable image I guess.
I think the porcupine comparison was always for 911s.

I've always thought boxers were chick cars. Like vw cabrio's. Don't want to be seen driving either.
