Start by drilling pilot holes from the outside in. Cleaner when finished.

If you look inside your stock air cover you'll see a whole bunch of circular spots where the holes should be. No need for templates as the hole spots are clearly marked out for you. I used a drill press at work to cut them out. It's hard to get them perfect unless you spend a lot of time but I center punched them all first to make it easier to find with the drill. I took before and after videos but didn't notice a big difference with stock mufflers. Now that I have my GHL's it sounds great. I see no reason to go back...

Who needs a stinkin' template. Just start drilling holes! I used a 1/2" drill bit, and put about a dozen holes in the cover....works great.
