Seem to have been given full access pit passes and "top-notch hospitality and parking".( I love good parking ). Don't ask me how or why.
Anyone else planning to attend? Is there a Cup associated event beforehand?

Have plans to be there! You generally can get to the pits and within 10 feet of the cars, they will pass you as the exit for practice. Be sure to come down to the tarmac about 30-40 minutes before the race as they line the cars up and allow you to take pictures of the cars and the drivers on the track(( race cars parked of course). But if your passes allow you go into the garages you are set!

there is a large group of boxster owners who regularly hang out at ppbb.com that meet up every year at Petit Lemans and then go for a large group drive in the north georgia mountains the day after the race.
Keep an eye on ppbb.com and try to do the drive, there are some great roads in north GA and it is a great group of people

Met the drivers, got my hat signed and saw the cars at MMP last weekend. The Spyders sounded great going down the straight at full chat. Penske definately knows how to run a race team; they and the Audi's were a big step above everyone else.

I live in Dahlonega in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, about 35 miles from Road Atlanta. There are some great roads north of here...Not Tail of the Dragon class, but fun to drive nonetheless. By the end of September the weather will be cool enough for AC OFF and windows down driving...All the better to hear your exhaust rattle off the stone cliffs bordering the roads.
One suggestion...If you have the time, Monday after the race will be infinitely better than Sunday. We are plagued with aging boomers on Harleys and GenX's on crotch rockets during the weekends and one or two always manage to turn themselves into grease spots on the road. This, in turn, draws a good crop of Barney Fifes. On Monday and Tuesday you have the road to yourself.
One final thing...If I can assist anyone with finding lodging, good restaurants, a driving route, or anything else, let me know. I'll be happy to assist.
Oh yeah...I'll be at the race also.

Gordo, are you driving down from St. Louis? I'm trying to decide between a run up to the Mosport race or down to Road Atlanta. Looks like about roughly the same distance from Champaign, IL area. I might make a go for it.

I'm a guest of Dr. Panoz but I have a friend with a farm NE of Atl so I'll probably stay there and commute each day. Should be fun.
I haven't been to a race in a long time. How long? Lets just say there were 3 McLarens there- and two were cars. Think there was also a 917-30 or two, erm, getting schooled by the McLarens.
