Default 993 Muffler Sound - Motorsound package vs. sport

Have a 1997 993 C2 with the Motorsound package (including the mufflers) but am considering change (I like the sound...but want more...). Would like input on the following options. Fabspeed Maxflo, Robin Sun's RSR conversion, B&B...have not had the chance to hear any of them.

Also is Robin still doing the conversions?...have sent a couple of emails in the last two weeks...but no response.

thanks
Dave

Dave,

Robin is still doing the conversions--in fact, I think he has a number of them in his garage. However, he might be unable for a short period, because I haven't seen him here recently.

I recently installed the RSRs in my car, which you can hear before/after here:

Dave (Caveman), also has a number of clips in his signature.

THANKS for the clip!!! My subwoofer brought the low freq. from the RSR out perfectly. Wow...it is a subtle but powerful difference!!!

I am in the same position as DaveM993 with all the exhaust options. I am having a difficult time deciding which exhaust to purchase. My local mechanic says to go with B&B or Fabspeed. I am curious why Dave in LA is against the B&B? Any suggestions or reviews would be great.

motor sound is VERY close to the RSRs IMHO... the RSRs are only very slightly louder so I'm not sure you'd be happy with that little of a change from motor sound to RSR (at least in my case I noticed only a very slight loudness difference from my motor sound and eric's former 993 with the RSRs -- both having stock cats installed)

Here is a link that gives you a chance to hear some side by side comparisons between stock, motorsound, RSR's, and a stock muffler with a cross pipe installed...

with my 14" subwoofer...the "stock" sounds the best....go figure.

But the best site so far to compare RSR and motorsound. It truly brings out the deeper pitch of the RSR...thanks!!!

I've got some clips as well if you want to try those and you can see mine with RSRs before and after I went the sports cat route. There is also a clip of Chris's Dach System silencers (similar to a Supercup) which sound great (though a tiny bit too much for my baby daughter's ears when combined with the sports cats) as well. The dennispi comparisons are good as they were all done on the same day.

Cheers,

David

I agree with this assessment. I was considering the RSRs and asked a local PCA'er who has them to let me hear... I couldn't tell the difference even at high revs.

I figured my mod $'s were better spent elsewhere.
