Skip -
the Walmart in Franconia, Alexandria (next to the Target) has had them in 5qt jugs everytime I've gone there to buy oil. If not on the shelf, ask them to go in the back and check. Gil

I just picked up the last 2 cases at my local Kragen Auto. The manager said she'd order some more for me.

Was I lucky? Is there a shortage or is this weight being discontinued?

Kragen in Redlands, CA had a good supply of 15w-50. I bought ten quarts this morning.

Skip, you don't live that far from me and I can buy 15/50 all over the place. The Fair Lakes Wal-Mart has the 5 qt. jugs and sometimes the 1 qt. bottles too. Advanced Auto at Fairfax Circle has the 1 qt. jugs too. Fairfax Auto Parts has a shop on Rt. 7 in Sterling and they usually have it too. Remember, it's called "Extended Performance" nowadays and comes with a yellow, not red, cap.

Well, if you can't get the 15W-50, what's the best Mobil 1 compromise (East Coast)?

I've had a very difficult time finding it locally...I guess the local Walmarts, Autozones, etc... don't think we need it in Indianapolis.

So...I did a net search...and found it on Amazon.Com (actually a retailer called Midwest Auto Supply) for $6.59/quart...free shipping and I found a 10% coupon so it netted out to about $5.90 delivered to my doorstep. I don't think I can come close locally so 48 quarts should be on my door this week.

Chris,

It won't last me very long...between 2 993s and a race car I got through oil pretty quickly. I'm hoping this will at least get me through the end of the season.

Cheers,

Rick

Bond auto parts on Shelburne Road, South Burlington, Vermont.

People around here don't like to use that new fangled city slicker technology and it sits on the shelves. I bought 14 quarts last Wednesday for $5.75/per. I'm actually only half kidding. When the cheap skates around here (and there are legions of them) ask me why use the expensive stuff when the stuff from the supermarket works fine, you have your answer.

While at Target today, I went by the what they call the automotive section and bought all of the 15/50 Mobil1 they had. In the very back of the shelf, I found two quarts of good ole red top 'performance driving formula'. Those two quarts have been there a long time.
Price was more than I normally pay, but Targets price of $5.69/qt seemed a little better than reported higher prices of late.

Just wish my wages would keep up with petroleum prices..
