Default HD's+M030+Sway bars installers and prices.

Folks, I am looking to get HD's M030ROW and sway bars installed here in Bay Area. Custom alignment mountain view was recommended, bu they quoted $1910 for entire job.
Does it seem too high to you?
What folks are paying for this job - to install the kit and to align?
What are other places in Bay Area folks recommend?
Here is custom alignment quote:

Front shocks/springs installed $460
Rear shocks/springs installed $432
Sway's installed $403
Height adjust $120
Alignment front/back $240
Corner weighting $75
Corner balancing $180
Total: $1910

Can't say for sure since I installed my own, but from what I recall people seem to be paying closer to $1000 for suspension install. The rear sway should take < 30 minutes to install, not sure on the front, I paid my shop to do that, forget what they charged, but it was probably around $100. The fact that they separately charge for height adjust, corner balance and corner weight (don't even know what this is) sounds like a ripoff. I've had a corner balance (they have to adjust the height) and align for under $300.

Corner weighting and balancing are one in the same. Find another shop.

I had the install done at San Carlos european motor works on Holly and Elcamino for about $700. I then took it to custom alignment in Mountian View and had them adjust the height perfectly and alighn for about $500.

Sounds like a total rip off.

A local shop, here on Long Island, quoted me $700 for the "complete job" - (i.e. 'removal of old parts' + 'installation of new parts + hunter alignment').

I got this quote back in March -- I plan on getting this suspension setup done - (i.e. "InTheAir"'s group buy / Viperbob) -- around Nov. -- when the car is about ready for its winter nap.

+1, sounds like a rip off. Book time to R&R shocks and springs is an 1-1.5hr a wheel I think. $460 to replace sways?? That is waaay too high. I would call other places, I had my suspension done by Devek.

I really thought hard about doing this myself but couldn't pass on the price at West End Alignment in Gardena. Darin installed, aligned, and corner balanced my M030 for something like $450. Just couldn't justify the time and expense of tools etc.

That being said, if you guys do a group install, I would be interested in watching and helping just to learn.

Oh, and that quote the first poster got for alignment, rip off. run away.

I paid $400 for the complete install. I think the alignment was around another $150 - $200 at the dealer. RUN from your shop!

Folks, thanks for the feedback, I will call shops you recommended and will consider doing DYI as well.
I am torn between overpaying for something i can do myself and underpaying for a job done not up to par - story of my life ;-(
