See, you aren't terminally lazy like me! Saying CS would simply lead to ANOTHER Question ...."Is it 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive"? Now, you have created twice the work!

Sure...that's the ticket...it's a "C 1/2 S" ...

Sounds like a bunch of BS if you ask me...

That's what someone down the line has done (run the VIN thru Porsche) I presume, and they found in the MSP codes, the M071 code which is:
" EU Country Version" and the salesman is repeating the info bluntly...

M069 Other Country Version

Then comes the individual country codes. These exist for Control and Indications Lettering. The letterings on the Onboard Computer stick-shift and the Cruise control stick-shift, airbag sticker warning, engine stickers, manuals etc.

some examples:
M034 ITALY
M061 UK
M113 CANADA
M124 FRANCE
M130 USA

We should not neglect that Porsche sold around 1975 carrera S in the USA,
and 1250 cars in the ROW,

and still ..... some people import more.
Shows how the Carrera S was a huge sucess in the US.
I am sure the prices tend to be bullish as in the EU, the S is valued more in the blue book than the 4S today

For MY96 the region specific vin ranges for the C2 are;
96 T 99TS3 10061>19000 --ROW
96 T 99TS3 20061>29000 --USA/CAN

For MY97;
97 V 99VS3 10061>19000 -- ROW
97 V 99VS3 20061>29000 -- USA/CAN
97 V 99TS3 29601>29999 -- BRITAIN
97 V 99VS3 29201>29999 -- BRITAIN

For MY98;
98 W 99WS3 10061>19000 -- ROW
98 W 99WS3 20061>29000 -- USA/CAN
98 W 99WS3 29201>29999 -- BRITAIN

The only way to know the type code is to look at the sticker under the hood in the front trunk. A CarreraS (C2S) will list option M495, a C4S would be M491. If you can post the option list front trunk sticker we can tell you exactly what it is and what it isn't.

Sounds like the same kind of seller that I ocasionally see that lists his 993 for sale as having a"V6" motor. Or the guy that told me about his '74 911 and it had "power steering, power brakes, everything".

Now I'm confused...... I thought a CS meant a "Custom Shop" guitar from Gibson.....

What's going on here....??? Has Gibson partnered with Porsche....???

Pround owner of an original 1998 Porsche-Gibson CS....
