I installed the HID kit from Vertex about 5 months ago. Sometimes while driving I notice the right headlight is not on & I know it was on when I initially turned them on. If I turn off the headlights then turn them back on it fires right up & stays on.
This happens maybe 1 in 15 headlight uses. Any ideas on what the problem may be?
I have run into the same thing, I think its due to heat on the ignitor/ballast. the light turning off only happened once on me, turned it back on, works great ever since. but if I have the lights on for a prolonged period of time (5 minutes plus) and turn them off, and attempt to turn them back on within 30 seconds, they will not turn on! but if I let them sit at couple minutes, they will turn on with no problem
Before assuming it's a problem with the HIDs, make sure the quick disconnect in back of the headlight is making proper contact. This has been a source of problems for some Rennlisters, me included.
Kelly is right on. I bought a used set and the fellow I bought them from was careless in their removal.
The bulb lead connections were ripped off the connectors. A good idea to check continuity.

Dave... yeah that, too ... but I was referring to the factory square(?) multiple pin connector that interfaces with the headlight assembly itself when you slide it back into the headlight tunnel. Sometimes those pins get pushed back a bit when the connector is not lined up perfectly and you lock it into place with the lever.
I didn't notice the RS Pulley in your list of mod's, but I have one as well as the HID's. Sometimes when coming to a stop, if the RPM's drop quickly, my left head light will go out. Apparently there is a momentary voltage drop which the HID's won't tolerate.
Original porsche kit is 2750 euros from porsche dealer in porsche boxes.
Same exact kit with bosch boxes at 1945 euros.
Install time is half a day for first time mounting.
Most important tool to have is very very thin needle nose pliers. To change pin positions in headlight plug.
Installed it for a friend. Print DIY from p-car.
You wont see the difference from original mount because the parts are exact same, with same numbers. Holes and mounting placements in every car are factory pre-drilled.
