Crank Sensor magnetic shelding
OK. I have been having problems with my car running correctly after a supercharger install. TPS swears that it is magnetic interference. They said that when you splice into the crank sensor that it is getting interference. The car is bairly running when the EMS (Engine Management System) is connected. He told me that if there is interference that the car will retard that timing so much that is will hardly run. So does this make any sence to you guys? also what can i do shield the wire from interference. TPC answer was to buy there $2500 unichip.

only993,
I guess what they are trying to do is intercept the crank signal and delay it for ignition retard when the boost comes on .
Sounds like the box they are using doesnt output a replacement crank sensor signal that the DME is happy with.
Is this supposed to be a developed kit ?
A better idea would be to delay the ignition drive signal from the DME. Thats just a 5 volt pulse.
Sounds like the kit manufacturer ought to do a little development work first !!
Hope that helps,
Geoff
