Default 993tt has got to be about as good as it gets...

A lot of reading, reviewing this board and general introspection has led me to believe that the 993tt is got to be just the tops in terms of owning a Porsche. That beautiful 993 shape, overall (reasonably) reliable, very upgradable to huge power, etc. The market is reflecting this attitude with prices for 96, but especially 97 993 tt's still very expensive.

The same smell, sound, look, feel, etc. but with 400hp+.... that has got to be the ticket

* Sigh * Someday...

I am curious is there anyone on the board that would actually PREFER to drive a NA 993 (stock) over a 993tt (stock)... I cant imagine if $ were not an issue and all else equal, most of us would want the Turbo, right?...

I believe that $70k would buy a pristine car, just not from the top dealers in the country. But then, they don't own all the nice cars. Looking is part of the fun, but you have to be ready when it comes along. My 2cents.

I might be the only one, but I really do prefer my normally aspirated 993 to a TT. Don't get me wrong-the 993TT's are incredible in my opinion. The boost, as others have said, is addictive. And I'd love to have one in addition to my 993. But I will always be in love with the sound of the non-turbo cars....

I have a feeling 'Mr. Sullivan' will be getting a TT soon!

Come on over to the Dark Side Mr Sullivan, there are turbo upgrades and leaky slave cylinders waiting for you............

you should test drive a TT, you won't ask the question again.................I loved my N/A 993.....but I left her in a heartbeat for the TT and haven't thought much about her again......

Jonathan,

Both. Granted, I haven't heard a TT with a non-stock exhaust. I like the induction sounds of the NA cars too.
I think I must be getting too old... 10 years ago, I would have surely opted for the TT.

i have driven a 993tt before, it left quite a grin on my face... i am definitely getting the bug. however, my problem is that i have put so much time and attention into getting my S just right, i am afraid that i will not be able to find a similar 993tt in terms of condition/care for less than a kings ransom...

I've a feeling that it depends upon the roads you drive.

If you've got enough straight-away, then the turbo makes sense.

If you drive on mostly twisties, then 300hp or so on a below 3000 lb n/a 993 will make you very happy.

My n/a street fighter is working just fine for me, right now.

I don't like AWD cars, but I wouldn't mind having one.

Ready to go to RPM Jonathan?

sure, but my C2S has only 285 hp and weighs 3069... how can I make it 300+hp and less than 3000lbs?

Jonathan,

The car exists: 426 HP, 438 ft-# tq. 2,996 #s. NB, 2WD, and looks like this.

I totally agree that the 993tt is as good as it gets. It will be hard to love another car after that.

I just moved up from a C2 to a TT, but never would have imagined how two ostensibly similar cars could be so different. I really miss the N/A car's motor sound, and I think the narrow body is a prettier shape. Yup, I miss my old car...wouldn't go back though, them extra ponies are intoxicating.
