Now that we have had some hotter weather, I've noticed that my engine bay blower isn't coming on to evacuate hot air after I shut off the car, as it did last summer. What controls this? If it is a sensor, where is it? Does anyone know how to test/repair it?

Okay, it looks like this blower has a 30-amp fuse and a dual relay, both located in the engine bay fuse/relay panel. The fuse is good, and I haven't tested the relay yet. However, the ballast resistor for this blower, located in the plastic duct on the left rear of the engine, looks a bit corroded. Also, when I took it out to examine it, the points are open. Should they be open or closed?

BobbyT,
I've experienced the same last year...but I think it was the engine not getting hot enough to trigger the blower. However, I did replace the resistor (blue circle in the photo); it appeared to be a little corroded at the time. Here is the thread on the very subject. I hope it helps.

Bobby, do a search for my discussions with Randall G on that very issue (they had to do with HVAC). I believe that one of the relays in the front relay box is the same as the fan relay (R42 comes to mind) and can be swapped to check the relay's functionality.
The new relay is about $40.

Bobby,
The resistor controls the low speed operation of the blower, so it sounds like this is the culprit.
You can clean it up with a bit of effort, use some emery paper and you should be good to go. you can also "reset" them with a pin pushed down to release the spring.
They aren't to expensive to replace though ....964-616-550-02 $19 at Pelican
