How do I remove the cassette tape holder storage unit behind the hand brake?

Are you putting in the replacement "holder" part from gert? I did that and love it for holding sunglasses etc.

 

same here. there is just a single screw behind the cassette holder and should be hidden by a small square rubber mat. Unscrew said screw and the pull up and forward. There is a lip on the front of the holder that slides below the e-brake tray to hold it in place. you're done.

 

Yeah, but you'll need two capture nuts for the new box though, and it does not come with a second.

I just ordered one from Carnewal. SEARCH is a good thing. Lovely stuff on their website. I just got the car and that cassette holder needs to go!

Isn't there a CD holder that can go in that spot replacing the cassette holders?

I would actually use that having an in-dash single CD setup.
