Default basket handle optional on 95?

I thought they were standard on 95s. Either way there should be a 3rd brake light. Correct?

Nope. Late model build '95's like mine lacked the basket handle TBL and came with the immobilizer.

Thanks for confirming. Your car doesn't have a TBL? Does this red car have a TBL at all??

I have the window TBL. It doesn't appear as if the red car has a TBL.

All cars in the US had to have TBL's starting in (i think) 1986. The red 993 in you picture should have either the window TBL or basket handle. You have to wonder why it was removed. Accident?

Could this car be a Euro Spec which could be reason why there is no TBL?

Another theory. The TBL basket handle could have just been removed, as some don't like it. It doesn't look like it has the TBL above the rear window either.

My car was also built in Jul 95 and has no basket handle and it has the TBL along the top of the rear windscreen.

Let's start a rumor:

"Press Release": 5/23/06, Stuttgart, Germany
----------------------------------------------------
Due to popular demand, Porsche is adding the 1995 993-style "baskethandle" third brake light to the 911/997 for 2008 . In another bow to 993 model styling, this enthusiast-beloved feature is likely to be added as a standard feature to next year's 911 model. beginning in the late 2007 production runs.
