Default Will standard oem mufflers fit widebody?

I have a c4s and have read that there is some difference in exhaust between nb and wb cars? I am looking at picking up a used pair of oem mufflers and was wondering if there is a difference??

thanks

Did you actually buy that C4S that you were asking about a few days ago?

Got it a couple days ago. My 3rd zuffenhausen and best (951 and 986S previously)!

Also, are tips different for a wb vs nb car? I've seen some posts that say they are and some that contradict that...help!

Hi Jeff,

I agree with jnx. I believe that the mufflers are identical and the tips are specific to the nb/wb.

I've heard that the mufflers are standard to both and it's the offset on the different tips that accomodates the WB/NB difference.

Cheers,

David

No expert here, but from what I've gathered, it's not just the tip but the outlet pipe itself that is different.

I just got my new schnell mufflers today and they do not work on a widebody!! So although stock might be the same, I guess it varies by manufacturer.

Looks like the car is sitting in the garage for the 3-day weekend, bummer.

BTW, the schnell stuff sounds great and the fit/finish looks great (just doensn't fit)

Hello Jeff,
I just checked on my PET catalog, and the only difference are the tips. All the carrera models have the same mufflers, Bischoff or Gillet (Left 99311104511/Right 99311104611). The only carrera who has different mufflers is the RS (m64.20) (99311104510) , and of course the Turbo.

That's curious. When I ordered mine from GHL, they have different ones for NB and WB as well. And their WB versions will not work with the angled WB stock tips. I ended up using GHL's straight tips. (I'm quite happy with the sound, btw.)

Have you tried to use the stock angled tips with your NB schnell mufflers?
