Default Service records...

Trying to put a history together on my '98 993. If a car was serviced at a Porsche dealership, would that information be in any central database?

Thanks
Carl

Yes, Porsche dealerships store the informtion in a national computer database. But we may have a hard time getting the informationt: I asked when I bought mine but was told off by my Porsche service advisor... If anyone on this board knows a way around, I am interested (just to fill a 2 year gap in my 993's service history).

We've been told that they can not provide us with that information.

I contacted the dealership where my car was sold new and asked the service writer of they had any service records for my car. I gave him the VIN and he asked for a fax #. An hour later I received an 18 page fax containing the majority of the history!

Perhaps I need to try again.

I have a pretty complete listing, but it would be nice to have a single printout.

I think its hit or miss. I went to a dealer with nothing more than a vin# and they gave me complete history of service (at that location). I thought it was a bit scary that they didn't want to know if I was the owner or not.

Ask for the service manager. They are typically available for this stuff. I had two seperate dealerships bend over backwards to help provide information. Just be nice and explain what you are trying to do.

I think it's all in who you talk to and if they'r in a helping mood. I've gotten different answers from the same dealer, different person in each case, but was able to get the service history for my car.

I had the same luck providing the vin # and received a fax with all of the information. Lucky for me, that particular dealer that did the PPI had serviced the car for 95% of the total service recods. I wasn't too worried about the additional 10K miles of receipts I couldn't track down.

I had no problem with service records and I also know that the original owner can get any information.
Does anyone know of a method to get a copy of the original bill of sale from the dealership that the car
was sold from????? I tried and they acted like it was a Homeland Security risk! Chris
