Default ~~~Group Buy Round 2 - Aluminum Gauge Rings (CLOSED)~~~

THIS GROUP BUY IS CLOSED.

Posted: Friday AM
The final payment was received and, thus, the final order was placed. Everyone's order is now in. A first batch of 39 was sent on Monday, another batch of 6 will be sent today, and hopefully the final 1 set will also be sent today.

Well, I have received payment from 6 of the remaining 7 participants. Therefore, as of today, I opted to place the second order for those 6. Holger indicated he will be able to send them out tomorrow (Friday). I will place the final order once I receive the payment.

The first batch of 39 gauge rings were sent out from Holger (in Germany) on Monday, May 15th. They were sent with insurance and, as Holger just indicated to me, will need to be signed for.

I will place the second order probably tomorrow, once I receive the final personal check and once the Paypal eChecks are available to me (currently being processed by Paypal).

I placed the "first" order today. Holger has indicated that they will finish packaging the rings for this first group and should be able to send out on Monday!

Once I receive payment from the remaining group members (including Paypal clearing the payments for thos indicated below), I will place the second and final order. This will hopefully occur on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

ADDED BONUS: Because we had so many participants, Holger was nice enough to offer a $5 coupon on your next purchase with him (he sells things such as clear corners, aluminum key surrounds, etc.). The coupon will have your name on it and will need to be used on your next purchase. It is NOT transferable to others. This coupon can even be used if there is another group buy, such as for the clear corners.

Thanks for that, Holger!

For those that have not yet paid, please do so today (Friday). I plan on placing the order later today. However, because there seems to be more than one or two people where payment is delayed due to sending personal checks or by Paypal itself, I am working on dividing the group into two--the first group submitted to Holger will include all those that have paid and the funds have been received. This will allow Holger to put together the shipping boxes now and get a jump on the vast majority of buyers.

The remaining group will probably be submitted next Tuesday'ish--this will give Paypal time to process/clear a couple of payments and also allow me to receive the personal checks in the mail. Due to the upstanding community here, I won't be waiting for these checks to "clear" to submit the second order.

Thanks for everyone's communication. This is turning out to be pretty quick.

We will officially close this Group Buy. Therefore, those that have already sent me an email and are listed on the list below are "in". Those that have not completed payment, please follow the instructions I emailed you. The sooner I can compile all of the funds, the sooner I can place the order and get our rings.

Please stay tuned to this thread. I will provide updates in this first post. For instance, once I place the order, I will inform everyone here. I will list ORDERED next to your name below. Hopefully, I will be given a projected delivery date when ordering.

Here is the info on the Group Buy:

What are they?
As you can see from the images below (taken from the previous thread), the gauge rings are decorative pieces that update the look of the instrument cluster. Unlike many others, they fit ~inside~ the gauge bezel edge and, thus, cover the inside edge, but not the outside edge, of the instrument.

Compared to those that cover both the inside and outside edges of the gauge, I think these are a bit more understated.

Who is the company?
The gauge rings are from a company in Germany (www.armaturenringe.de), which is not a Rennlist Sponsor. They are the manufacturers of the gauge rings that were the subject of this previous Group Buy (https://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/211553-aluminum-gauge-ring-gb-details-here-closed.html). From all previous accounts, they seem to supply good quality rings and are willing to address any problems that may come up.

How much are they?
I first checked with Gert at Carnewal to see if he could give us a "deal" on the rings, since he also carries them from the same manufacturer. However, he indicated that if we were going directly to armatureringe.de that he obviously couldn't beat their price.

I contacted Holger Wienhoven at armatureringe.de and he indicated that they will match the price of the previous group buy, provided that we get at least 20 buyers. Therefore, the price for the set of 5 rings will be $60.00 US, including shipping. If paying by Paypal, please include the necessary amount for the Paypal fee (total would be $62.04).

Who am I?
Before I get into how the Group Buy will work, I think it is fair for those to ask who am I? I've been here at Rennlist for about a year and have organized two Group Buys:

1. A Car Cover Group Buy through Gert at Carnewal - (https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ight=group+buy)
2. A Suspension Group Buy through ViperBob - (https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ight=group+buy)

Both went smoothly, so I will try my best that this one is as easy.

How it will work.
Unlike the previous Group Buys, this one will require me to actually be the person who collects all of the names, addresses, and payment to be forwarded on to Holger when complete. He will then process the single order and send the sets directly to you.

Therefore, if you wish to participate, I need you to do the following:
  1. Reply to this thread that you are "IN".
  2. Send me an email with your 1) Real name, 2) Screenname, 3) shipping address, and 4) telephone number (just in case) to jls_general 'at' yahoo DOT com (trying to combat the bots). Note the underscore between jls and general.

Once we receive 20 committed buyers, I will send everyone an email detailing how to pay (most like via Paypal, however, I will most likely ask you to pay the Paypal fee that I will be charged) and I will then turn around and pay Holger the lump sum.

WHEN YOU REPLY TO THIS THREAD, PLEASE IMMEDIATELY EMAIL ME THE INFORMATION REQUESTED ABOVE.

Try right clicking on the picture field and select "show picture". All the pictures didn't come up for me either but when I did that, they showed up. Must be a slow server.

I'm "IN" - email sent.

Thanks for doing this.

Are you referring to the 2.9% that PayPal will charge? If so, that would mean we would need to send you $61.75.

Yes, that is what I mean. I just check the fee and it will be $60.00 + 2.9% + 0.30 = $62.04.

Nick -

That's the correct address. (By the way, do you mind editing your post to remove it, otherwise the "bods" will grab it and spam my account.)

Others seem to have used double-sided tape or mounting tack to hold it in place. You can remove it whenever...

For more detail, I would direct you to the previous thread listed above where people discussed their preferred mounting methods.
