Default 993 tire size for 18" wheels

Hey guys - I have read all the tech sites regarding larger tires, but would like to know if anyone has 285/30-18 on the back and 245/40-18's on the front. The car is not lowered (yet) and has the optional 18" Turbo Tech wheels on it. Will I be able to but those tires on without rolling the fenders or having the tires rub?
I guess I am more worried about the front than the rear. If anyone could post some feedback I'd be greatful.

Thanks, Derek

A wide body will take them easily as will a NB none lowered.....maybe depending on offsets.........once lowered you may have to roll rear fenders.....David in LA is the expert here

I have 18" wheels on a lowered car and have 225 front and 265 rear....no clearance issues

I have that exact size front and rear on mine with no issues what so ever. My car is lowered quite a bit as well and just took it in the mountains this past weekend with lots of severe switchbacks and experienced no rubbing.

Exact front and rear as the first post or the third? What wheel size and offset do you have? Any pics of your car?

If you're not lowered then you'll be fine.

If you're lowered, you'll probably be ok too, but it's really hard to say. Might get a little rubbing up front depending on how low, how much neg camber, and what brand tire. Same for the rear, but you'll probably be ok there.

Exact front and rear as the first post or the third? Same size as this post (first) inquired about...What wheel size and offset do you have? 18x8 front, 18x10 rear, offsets? I have no idea, no spoacers are used though. I simply used what Ruf recommended. Any pics of your car? Not yet... evrytime its washed I usually go out for a drive and kill lots of bugs. I'll take a few on Friday ("bath day") and post.

I am running 18x8 225's front & 275/35 rear with no issues. I was going to go w/ 285/30 on the rear, but Michelin does not make the PS2 in that size.

I have 285/30/18 on Turbo twists at the rear, and 225/40/18 on front. No issues. Make sure the offset is for your 993, as I believe the S and turbo's had a diff offset.

I'm also running 245 and 285's without any rubbing and my car is lowered...Rim widths are 8.5" and 10" front and back respectively....One thing to keep in mind is there are variations between tire manufacturers for the same stated size...BTW, I'm running Falken FZ451's

One thing I have learned about these tire size threads is that it is important is to get the actual tire width, in inches, vs relying on someone saying a 285 "worked for them". A 285 from one manufacturer may be exactly as wide as a 275 from another. Others are describing their experience with their particular brand in an effort to be helpful, which is what makes this board great.

Same here; 245 and 285 on 8.5 and 10" rims with no rubbing on a lowered car. The tires are S03s.

Thanks guys,
That info really helped. i ended up with 275/35's on the back and 235/40's on the front with no problems. I wanted to make sure I didn't put too much rubber on the back and cause an understeer issue...

So far the setup works great for me. Thanks again for all the input.

For any meaningful understanding of fit, nominal and actual tire size are needed as well as wheel width and O/S, and ride height at the fender lip w/ any mods

ie MPSC 235/40 x18(9.5 x 25.4") on 8x18 ET50 wheels at 25" fender height fit fine w/o rubbing after the fender lips were clearanced(rolled)

I just got some new wheels and tires, 9x18 front and 11x18 rear, running 235/40 and 285/30 respectively. Car was lowered by VB/Devek. I have a very occasional rub up front, with hard downhill turns. I haven't had a chance yet to see exactlly where it makes contact. That investigation is planned for this weekend. I'll try and post pictures over the weekend as well.

Michael
