I didn't get it the first time either. Took plenty of time one evening after dinner. Would rather fiddle with it myself than watch the dealer tech bumble along while I am paying them to learn.

Which flavor coffee did you get? (just in case)
lol..

Well tried several more times without success. I get the warning light to flash, I enter the code supplied by dealer, followed the directions (on/off with ignition); light stays solid after every code. For example, if code is 1567, after entering 1, stays solid, enter 5 stays solid, enter 6 stays solid, enter 7 - the last number, it is suppose to flash (according to directions) BUT it stays solid .

For someone who has done this before, how much time passes before the light flashes after you've entered the LAST number.

TIA.

It should flash right away, ie within a second or less.

Well spent the last hour trying to get the remotes programmed. No $#$#% luck. Either I have the wrong code or my immobilizer has been changed. Will go to a different dealer on Monday and get the code one more time. If it's the same code I'm using..then off to the dealer the car goes.

That's what I thought too. Maybe using the Hammer tool or something. But no...they have to go thru the same dance.

I took mine to the stealer eventually and they were not able to do it either. They had to wait for one tech that was the one that "knew" the routine and that had done it before. He played with it for about an hour. I could hear my alarm go on and off while I waited in the waiting room.

An hour later or so..the tech came back frustrated and without saying a word, gave me the keys back.

Default Is there an easy way of telling if the immobilizer in your car is the original.

Without going to the dealer?

TIA

I've reprogrammed the key fob things. Do a search on the site there is lots of info.
It works, if you have the right key code.
that's one thing I don't like.... that stupid drive block system.

Well today went by the dealer where a friend works. He took me back to the service dept' to look up this infamous immobilizer code. Low and behold it is the same $^$& code that the other dealer gave him . So back to the drawing board, and will try a couple more times before taking it to the dealer.

While there I also ran into another guy working there with whom I worked 14 years ago. We catch up on times and I explained to him my plight. He assured me they might be able to program the remotes.

Just as I was about to leave this older gentleman approached me. He recently placed an order for a 997. He asked me about my car and couldn't believe it was 10 years old. He went around the car a couple of times, still amazed at how new/good/whatever it looks. Of course it has some bling mods on it. Well that took some of the frustration away from that $^$^ immobilizer.

Having done this successfully a few times, I can say the 1st time is a royal pita. However, once you get the rhythm down, it's pretty easy. FWIW, here's the "cheat sheet" I've used. As noted, a helper for the first few steps is ... helpful. Good luck.

Dan's Cheat Sheet

Thanks for the sheet! However, I did see the same instructions somewhere else and followed it to the detail. Following those directions or what's listed in the manual I have not been able to get the warning light to flash. (Have been able to get warning light to flash numerous times) The only time I'm able to get that warning light to flash is when I close the door leaving it unlock for a few, return to car open door, leave door open, and go straight to turn ignition on etc.. I'm able to enter all the 3 codes successfully, however after entering the last code it doesn't take. I tried a couple times tonight with cheat sheet and helper without success.
