Oil Change 993
Just got the 95 993 and its running low on oil. The problem is I don't know what type of oil is in the car or the last time it was changed. So I want to change the oil. What is needed? Any special tools? Two filters? Any Gaskets? Can you buy all these items in a kit?
How much oil qt's?
Thanks,
Dave

Time is correct. For this old guy, the second time (for me, two nights ago) took about 2.5 hours under supervision by the dog. It sure is satisfying when complete. Also did the transmission last night as well as brake pad change.
Its amazing what I can get done when my wife is out of town! Life is good.

I assume that you know that the oil guage on the dash is useless for measuring the oil level. Check the Dipstick.
Out of curoisty do you need a lift to change the oil yourself. Or can it possibly be done with jacks. I have never done it.

4 hours for me!! The small filter got stuck and I had to buy a second oil wrench. I wish I had the patience to have purchased the three pronged wrench that is written about in the archives. If you can wait, it is worth it. I had to drill holes through my wrench and put screws through it into the filter.
Good sense of satisfaction, though!

Ty ... I do mine with Jacks, but if you have a friend with a lift ....
Polver ... my tight filter trick is to take a rubber glove (one of those I wear to keep as much of the mess off of me as possible) and lay across/inside the filter wrench before pressing the wrench over the filter. The added friction is just enough to budge the filter. You might need a rubber hammer to remove the wrench from the filter once its off.

No you don't need a lift. If you use stands, try to get a little rake on thefront over the rear.....gets all the oil to drain back down the lines.

I'll have to pick up one of those wrenchs. Any idea where I can purchase all the filters and gaskets and such in one spot? I'm kinda far away from any Porsche dealer. Mail order seems to be my best choice.
Thanks Guys.
