What is the difference between the 993 C2 and the 993 C2S models?

There are a lot more knowledgeable folks than me on this board, but my understanding is that the "S" is essentially a turbo 993 without the turbo. Wide body, big brakes etc.

Ironically, I have also been told that the "S" is, therefore, heavier than a C2 without an additional horsepower boost to compensate for the extra load.

The "S" model is the wide-body . . . bigger hips in back . . . not front. So, you can have slightly bigger wheels/tires. Also, the C2S has the split rear grill on the stock spoiler. Way fewer C2S models made . . . surely a premium in price.

The C2 S did not have the Turbo brakes.
Wider fenders, split rear deck lid. Lower prodiction #'s.

Turbo wide body, splip rear spoiler same color as car, Carrera S script on tach, basketball-type leather trim, different shifter/e-brake. It's primarily cosmetic stuff. However, to an earlier point, the weight increase over C2 is extremely negligable for street driving (i think it weighs less than 100lbs more)

The C2S brakes are the same as the C2, not the TT big reds.

The difference is normally between $10,000 to $20,000 more for a C2S vs a plain 993 coupe.

Default Are these numbers accurate for C2S's

Don't mean to hijack thread..but since we talking about C2S's....

Here's the add

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1998-...QQcmdZViewItem

and part of the description:

This is the only C2S out there on the market that has these option, colors and mileage, there are currently two 1997 C2S for sale that have similar mileage but both are Tiptronics. The 993C2S was only produced in 1997 and 1998. In those two year there were 1,750 built and 1,100 were Tiptronics. So there are only 650 6-spd. 993C2S's out there. I had to pay the world for this car but it was worth it. One for the true collector or enthusiast.

is that number of tips from porsche itself, because it sounds dubious.

sounds like a nice car, although from the look of the pics, my seats with 45k miles look much better

http://www.prestige-motors.com/home....page=3&id=1752

A friend is on the hunt for a 996 and keeps sending me 993 info' that he comes across. He shakes his head in amazement at 993 prices compared to 996.
