Default PICTURES from Ferrari Challenge at Homestead Today

This event was amazing, I've never seen such a collection of Ferrari's this impressive in one place. I counted 5 Enzos (street version), 6 FXX's (Enzo track version with 800bhp), there were about 7 F1 cars there, three of which were Michael Schumacher's old cars. The Rissi Ferrari team was there taking care of the F1 cars for the private Ferrari customers who owned them. This was my first time seeing F1 cars in the pits this close, and hearing them in real life was a real treat. LOUD!! It literally takes a TEAM of people to get those cars running! I have some very short video clips with great sound, but have nowhere to host them if someone wants to volunteer.

There were some other cars there as well, like the new 612 Scaglietti's and 430 Challenge cars which are beautiful (and sound amazing too). But I used most of my camera's memory card recording the sounds of the F1 cars, sorry

This was a great event, I HIGHLY recommend you attend a Ferrari Challenge event if you can - I CAN'T BELIEVE you can watch F1 cars being worked on, warmed up, and driven on the track for a $15 ticket!!!

My pictures failed to capture the sheer number of cars in the pits, I focused too much on the F1 pits but who can blame me...

Thanks for sharing, I cannot imagine having that kind of coin to play with Ferrari F1 cars. Tire warmers, you gotta be kidding me !!!

One car that gets near universal respect from Porsche owners is Ferrari. Great pictures. Thanks!

What was really amazing was how CLEAN everything was in the pits -- you could almost eat off the floor near the F1 cars, even the tools didn't have a spec of dirt on them. One of the Ferrari crew spent most of his time cleaning everything from the bodywork to the aluminum frame for the portable battery starer box! They really pulled out all the stops. By the way, all the crew were very friendly and I talked with one of the Rissi guys for a good 20 minutes about the F1 cars and the "F1 Clienti" program (top Ferrari customers buy old F1 cars and have them shipped around the world to drive on the best tracks).

Apparently, the engines aren't really detuned for their customers, but they do lower the rev limit down to about 15,500rpm so the engines last longer. Apparently they don't log "hours" on the F1 engines, but rather "kilometers." With full 19,000rpm redline, they last about 450 kilometers before needing a rebuild. If you don't rebuild them at 450 km, he says the first thing to "go" is the exhaust valves, and when that happens the engine is basically scrap metal (expensive scrap metal!) The lowered-rpm engines for the customers last in the range of 800 km, still not what you would call long-lasting

Overall, great event with very friendly people, everyone having a good time. Not to mention, more than a few "pit babes" walking around

Wow, that's a serious amount of carbon fiber in the interior of the FXX's!

I'm not a Fcar kind of guy so excuse my ignorance.. But what part of FiAT is in Ferrari....motor or design? I didn't know FiAT was part of Ferrari at all.
