How about tomorrow morning Guys (Sunday Morning April 2)?? Who care if it's raining, although I think tomorrow should be fine.
It's been a while since we've had a BAR drive!
Anybody have a route they want to recommend?

If we meet at 8-8:30 at 92 and 35, there is a parking lot to do some sound clips. Then we could go into HMB for breakfast. Easy place for the East Bay guys to get to, or we could meet them across 92.

I would rather wait until the weather gets better but if everyone else is willing to bring out their Prize Possessions then I will be willing to show up. I don't think I'll be making the BAR since the last time I went out 2 months ago Da PO-PO got me for slightly speeding.

Reminds me of a local gin mill where the Harley guys would have "loudest bike' contests for drinks....They, on the other hand, brought the bikes INTO the bar for the competition!

Just a note on the GHL's getting louder with time. I installed my GHL's ~16K miles ago. They progressively have become lounder and would estimate 35% louder over when I put them on. When I first installed them it disapointed me a bit but as the miles go on I'd say they are perfect at this point.

Chrisper, I appreciate your comments... do you track your car? They seem to me to be a little understated, but I like the fact that they don't have any resonance on long road trips.

Regarding getting together tomorrow... Sunday is a bad time for me but I am generally open on Saturday mornings. If you guys get together tomorrow, I might be able to pop in and say hi, but won't be able to follow on a drive.

Hi Guys,
If any one has a sound clip or small video clip of the GHLs that they could send me that would be great and I'll add it to my collection.
Cheers,
David

Sorry I just need to vent. I'm going to little nutty here with all the rain.
Just looked at weather.com. It doesn't mater if it's day view, or hour by hour view, it's all for the next 10 days!
I've only been here for 5 years but I think this is the worst year...

I finally couldn't stand it and went out on a drive yesterday, when I caught the sun coming out momentarily.
Went up 84 from Redwood City. That section up to Alice's IS indeed very good for listening to you own exhaust. However, there were many rock/mud slides, fallen branches, etc. I turned North on Skyline and the road debris condition was worse. And then visibility went down to 50 ft with the fog when I hit King Mountain. Swung back on 92 and went back North on Canada Road. Now that was a fun stretch.
That would be a temporary fix for now.
Oh, back on topic, the GHL is definitely louder than the MSP that I had, but not much (15%?) I need to put more miles on it I guess. As some has mentioned, it is somewhat understated but has a really no nosense, all business kind of low rumbling bass kind of sounding... I funked Creative Writing so please excuse my inability to describe it.
Forecast is still rain for the next 10 days. May be by next weekend it will clear enough for a group drive?

Chrisper993, your comment here might have saved me from looking for other exhaust, or I was even thinking about going for the headers... Patiences is not my strength, I guess.

Resonance?
My supercups have a nasty resonance @ 2800 - 3000 rpm.

Other than severe rusting inside the can how can a silencer get 35% louder? I'm not sure I believe that?! The only time I have heard my RSRs get louder (some people claim they get a bit louder with age) was when I switched to sports cats ;-)

My previous experience is the that 996 PSE does get a bit louder over time, but probably not 35% though, more like 15%.
I am interested in Sport Cats. Does anyone recommend one that can pass CA Smog? I did some search and the only ones I found are generic ones which require custom cutting and welding...
