Porsche / Becker CDR 23 in 993?
Just got myself a 993, and it has a very poor aftermarket radio. I may get a second hand Porsche / Becker CDR23 from a 996 to replace, but have heard it is "electonically" mated with the car for anti-theft purposes. Does anybody know if it can be made to work in the 993?

The CDR-23 will not work. The CRD-23 requires a CAN-BUS signal for ignition and illumination control. The 993 is not CAN-BUS equipped. Go with a CDR-220 or CR-220.

Three Wheelin'
Madrid - The 22 and 220 look to be the same but I'd contact Becker to be 100% sure. Most 220s that are sold these days are for Boxters which has a faceplate that won't work well on the 993 (it's a different viewing angle so it's hard to read). Unless you get a unit that was used on a 993 you'll need to contact Becker anyway to get the appropriate faceplate. Also, the 22/220 is a considerable step up in sound quality from the 21/210 so go for the later unit if you can.
