Default 30K service on a 95' C2

What should be done other than plugs and and oil change (with both filters)?
And approx what should it cost at a dealer? (Or should I just do it myself?) I hear the plugs are a b!tch to replace and the oil change is no picnic either.

What's included? See below:

My PO did mine at 25k miles (at 27K miles now), but it seems they are running about $1000-1200 by a dealer (add another $200 or so for the oil change). Don't forget the extra $17 for the Rennlist membership. (<---note the winky)

Not all the plugs are a "bear", but there is one that will challenge many shops/techs.

I have a $2,296.00 receit from my 30k tune up. About $800 of that were pads and rotors and another $300 for belts, plugs, oil, and a few other misc. things. (rotors and pads need replacing again at 53k-think the the ones on now are Zimmerman). About $1000 for labor, and $1100 for parts in my case at Auto Werkstatt in Manhatten Beach, CA

I just finished a 30k on my 98 C2S. Total of 11 person-hours and $300 in parts plus oil. Dealer quoted 1700, independent, 20% less. That's about $100 per hour and I had the enjoymrent of working on my car. This time included changing a valve cover gasket, oil, filters, air filters, cleaning up the oil leak from the valve cover, changing brake fluid, caps and rotors and everything else in the manual, including checking all fluids. Nice way to spend the afternoon with a friend and my car.

I was real anxious about the plugs, turned out to be easy with the right combination of Craftsman tools. Used 3/8 rachet, to 2 inch extension to a 3/8 universal joint to a 3/8 to 1/2 inch adapter to 1/2 inch drive socket. I taped all the indivdual pieces together with small strips of duct tape to avoid dropping them. This is the perfect length to get even the upper plug on passenger side...easy. I can take a pix of the setup if anyone is interested. On passenger side, changed all 6 plugs from bottom. On drivers side, tops from top, bottoms from bottom. Next time I think I'll remove the sheet metal and do all the driver side from the bottom. Took more time to get mufflers, brackets and sheet metal off than to do the plugs.

I am not a mechanic however, am a very patient person. I do have a collection of the right tools which makes all the difference in the world.

Would I do it again...absolutly.
