Edit: Actually, the cover of Motor Trend probably doesn't prove anything; all I've probably proven is that I remember that cover. For what it's worth, I have always thought DeLoreans were cool. Awkward and slow, maybe, but unmistakeable and perfectly reflective of my Jr. High doodles of what a supercar should look like.

Nope. The last car I bought on a whim was a Triumph Stag, which was also an interestingly styled complete piece of sh*t. Spun a bearing 2 weeks later.
My life is too crowded right now to spend time on stuff that I don't *love*. If the idea of a Delorean makes you super happy, go buy it now :-). But otherwise stick with stuff that makes your life better rather than just hangs around.

Pong, the Delorean is a car to look at. You will never enjoy the driving experience. It is heavy, it is slow, blind spots everywhere. Small windows that don't work most of the time, funny sized tires, doors that don't stay open. However, it is a novelty. People look at you, wave at you and start conversations in parking lots.
The Puegot engine has proven to be reliable for us. My dad took delivery of a brand new Delorean in 1982 and has had it ever since. Says he will never sell it.
Maybe I'll drive it to our next rumble!

Addison,
That would be a hoot. I bet you that at the end of the day, there will be more pics of your DeLorean than my RUF on the internet.
I'd love a test run in one. I never thought it'd be a driver's car like a 993, or even a Miata. but the novelty index is still as high as ever, even after 25 years.

If had the means and space, I would totally get one - what a riot to drive around in. It wouldn't need to be sporty, who would care?
that Motor Trend cover was hilarious!!! when was the last time you saw a Quantum hatchback, LeCar 5dr, 280ZX turbo, or Audi Coupe? Acutally a guy in KC has a white Audi coupe I see from time to time. haven't seen any GTV6 Alfas here though
but I did see a really clean mid 80's Nissan Stanza on the highway the other day.

Actually, Delorean Motor Company was founded in Detroit by John Delorean, a GM exec and very American businessman. Built in Ireland yes, but finished in the US and many American manufactured parts.
