A few years ago I saw one of those with a full-race motorcycle being the last to leave. Seems to me the motorcycle blew away the entire field. I wonder how the race bike would stand up to the F1?

It would be like a piper cub stacked up against a P51 Mustang.
The race bike has great power to weight, but very poor lateral G holding power. Someone put a video up with a stock 996 C4 against a super bike and the C4 cleaned its clock in the end.
About 1 G of lateral force is all you can get out of a bike. You can only lean those things over so far.

A loooong time ago, I think it was in 1983 or 1984, Niki Lauda did the same thing at Silverstone when he was driving for McLaren. The other cars were a Ford (escort?) and a 928. Cool concept to show the speed differential between these cars.

Great display...we think we are going fast and then a F1 car puts you in your place!
I was at Fiorino a year ago fall and to see the cars live gives you a much better appreciation for the violent speed changes in braking these cars can accomplish. The 3 Gs of braking is unreal looking.
I am wondering if:
1. HDTV will have enough definition to show the speed
2. F1 will ever be in HD
I guess they do not have any near term plans is what I heard. I will wait for HD til F1 is there...the rest of the TV crap can be fuzzy, I don't need to see the evening news in HD!
Cheers

I use to photograph the F1 series in Detroit for a magazine and I was able to move around in the field wherever I wanted. Best shots were on the slow corners but many other photogs where fighting for position. I had already shot several rolls at the corners and I walked around looking for something different. There was an opening in the fence near the end of the long straightway. F1's would go by me at full speed and only 5 feet away! It was awesome! Not good for photos but what a feeling!
The sounds, the smells and the rumble, I'll never forget. The highlight of the very first F1 race in Detroit for me came after it was all finished and everyone had left. The track remained closed to the public overnight on Sunday and wasn't opened again for normal traffic till Tuesday because of the long holiday weekend. I found an opening and I took my 911SC in the middle of the night and went through a full tank of gas racing through the streets of Downtown Detroit on a closed F1 track!
It was a great. ~Chris

It is very entertaining, enough so you would think someone could market racing this way. Even more exciting would be to have at least one of the cars(F1 prefered) going the opposite direction. :
