993 C4S and Child Car Seats?
I was unsuccessful in doing a search on this topic, but I just picked up a 1997 993 C4S and have a 5 year old and 2 1/2 year old that I would love to take with me on rides. My 5 year old usually uses a simple booster seat...we have the Cosco brand but is too wide to fit in the back seats? My 2 1/2 year old uses a Roundabout Carseat and seems to fit in the back seats, granted not much leg room for him but that's too bad!
Anyone have any tips on what booster and/or car seats work well in the back seats of the 993's?
Thanks in advance!

I have a Star Riser booster by Britax. It fits... but it's pretty damn snug. After researching it here on Rennlist, it seemed to be the one that by most accounts fits the best.

FYI, our local B-R-U hadn't even heard of Britax, let alone the Star Riser model, so good luck there! I purchased both of mine on the web. Star Riser is the one to have because none of the others will allow two to fit in back of a 993 and allow 6' humans up front. Fit's not 100% perfect, but still better than anything else (& we tried a few);

I know it's very expensive but the new Porsche Kid Plus will fit in the back of the 993.
I tried it with the first seat I got and it fits perfectly.
The "Kid Plus" is the replacement for the "Zoom", which did not fit in the back of the 993.

BTW - Should you ever put one of them in the front seat - get an airbag on/off switch installed first.

No, check out www.airbagonoff.com. This is what I did for two of my cars. Other rennlisters have as well. Search the above and you will find my and others old threads on the topic.

When I purchased my 95 CAB I could have sworn that the rear seats in the 993 were better than any child seat I've seen. To bad PORSCHE just didn't install a small five-point harness and a cup holder.

I put two Cosco High Back Booster seats in the back of my 993 C4S. These were purchased at Wal-Mart for under $50 apiece. The Wal-Mart product number is 002643991. These seats have a very narrow bottom profile that allows them to seat into the space in the back of a 911. Two fit well side by side. The only problem I encountered was that when pulled very snug into position, the seat belt connector ( where the two pieces of the belt mate together) is pulled partially into the seating area for the child. I wrapped this area with some terry cloth towel to soften the imposition onto my child's back. The end result is a small lump on one side of the seating surface, still comfortable for the child. Besides this minor inconvenience, this style child seat fits perfectly into the car.

Looking at the dimensions, it appears the carseat would be too big, unless the footprint of it is significantly smaller? Thanks again for your help!

Yes, that is the one. The footprint of this seat is significantly smaller than it appears in that picture. The seat portion that you see sits on top of two runners that hold it up off of the seat. The two runners fit exactly into a 993 rear seat, holding up the portion you can see in that picture, which fits just above the contours of the seats in back of a 993.

The 5-year old is likely to be the bigger problem. CT recently changed the law, requiring my 6-year old to be in a booster seat. Couldn't find one that fit, so I ended up putting some cushions in the back to raise them up higher (the only purpose I can think of for a booster seat). Works well for that purpose anyway.

My Britax Stariser Comfy fits into the back seat of my cab. I'm not saying it isn't tight but it fits. My 9-year old daughter fits, barely, as does my 7-year old son though they much prefer the front seat, hence the need for the airbag on off switch. Good luck.
