Absolutely, come on over. The removal and install is relatively easy. Look forward to seeing you again.

I just got another CDR-220 with a new modified faceplate. Same deal as Dave's. If anyone wants it let me know. You're more than welcome to come by tomorrow and we'll get it installed. The only thing I don't have is the Becker plug for the back of the radio for an iPod hook up.. I have one but I am loaning it to Bobby as they are on back order with Becker.

ALSO. in addition to the plug you need another connection to go to the iPod. I recommend http://www.autosound2000.com/ipodadapters.htm. This plugs into the cables that Becker gives you and then to the iPod. The best thing about this unit is it charges the iPod while you're using it. It runs about $30.00

Yes, that was my post on the Becker Board. They are great folks. I came across a CDR-2200 on eBay. Great radio and price....However, according to Becker, it is a cassette unit that are built for use in Japan. So, now I know why it's a great deal.

Chuck W: Just installed the new CDR-220 face plate. I just may keep the 993 now that I can see the display. It looks so much better than a 997!!! Did you paint your rotors on or off the car? Thanks for all your input. Much appreciated.

Glad it worked out. It always amazes me how much the little things make us so happy.

And yes, the calipers were painted on the car. Very easy.

Chuck-

Do you have any more of those CDR-220s? SW Stereo is quoting $425 with the updated faceplace. Prices must be going up. Ugh.

Try calling Becker....If Becker has changed let us know.

I believe that this includes the manual and removal keys. A warranty is also included. When you order it ask them to swap the faceplate for a modified one so you can read it in the 993; another $50. Figure $15 or so for shipping and for just over $300 you know you have a good radio with a warranty. You can get stung on eBay....ask me how I know.

I am not sure. Give Becker a call. If it isn't the same connector they can tell you what you need.

Rich,

The cdr220 is $250.00, the modified face is $50.00, and the aux cable is $16.40. Total would be $316.40 plus shipping.

You will need the cable that plugs into the speaker jack of the xm and has the two male RCA jacks on the end to interface with our cable.

Rich...Good deal. After buying and selling several CDR-220's on eBay I think that Becker is the best bang for your buck. I have bought 2 on eBay that had bad CD players. For a little extra money you are buying a lot of peace of mind. Did they mention a warranty?

Agreed, the best route. I believe it was a 1 or 2yr.
Any other gotcha's with the swap out other than the re and re of the unit itself?
Next question speaker upgrades?
Thanks again for the assist.

As long as you are going from a CDR-210 or CR-210 it is a straight swap. You will have to remove the old radio's cage. Thin metal that can be pulled out. It's a little pain pushing the new radio in because of the cables and wires in that area. Reach under the dash and guild it.

I am saving for a trip to see Rod Birch in Sacramento for the speaker, rear subs and amp upgrade. I'll keep the CDR-220 head.
