A Turtle is (Re)born
(Still can't stop smiling ...)Ok, I picked up the Turtle on Thursday afternoon and headed to Sears Point/Infineon to go for a sedate Sunday drive...
My first reaction to seeing the completed car was a simple "DAMN!". It was a good thing. The car is beautiful and runs a 'tad faster than you might expect out of a Turtle. I took the digital camera with be, but as fate would have it, the battery was dead and I had not packed a spare. The good news is that David Wong was there to photograph the events (TrackMasters on Friday and PCA/GGR on Saturday and Sunday). Some of David's photos of me follow.

One down and one to go ...
So, some promised information. If you strip out most everything you get to about 2500 lbs. The car is 2535 with 1/8th of a tank of gas and no driver weight added. The body work came from Getty Design and was installed by the folks at Jerry Woods. The old paint work was in sad shape and the repainted Amazon Green was almost too nice to take out onto the track - it's been broken in now. The guys at Jerry Wodds did an incredible job and Rich Walton came out Friday and Saturday to ensure all was going well. It did and I still haven't stopped smiling.
Oh, I have never managed to get to an event at Sears Point before. My loss as it is superb and that's an understatement. I have no comparison to the "old" Turtle since I'd not run there before, but I was running 1:54's on Saturday as I got used to it.
Rennlist was very well represented, there were at least a dozen of us there!

The Turtle is dead... long live the Turtle!
Tony: Think your lovely wife will want another ride? I look forawrd to seeing you both agin soon (hopefully).
Danny: It is a very different beast. While it's fatter, it's sooo much lighter and responsive. I was politely chastised for lack of smoothness in my driving and told if I wold clean up my act and be smoother and stay on the line better, I'd drop from 1:54 to 1:48 by a guy I'm going to have to trust.
Bob: Cosmetic surgery doesn't affect the heart (but it does have effects).

Kim: That was a great day (as was Saturday)! Will you be at Thunderhill in early March?
