Based on a variety of factors but design played a big part. Some of the others were corvette jaguar, lambo, ferrari, maclaren, mercedes, austin martin.

911's have always been the best designed endurance sports cars ever developed so it doesn't surprise me a bit.
When you can buy a new 996TT for 120k that will keep up with a 250k Lambo or Ferrari and go ten times as far before it needs a service, you have a winner.

By the way, what was the name of the show? and what channel was it on?

Same question here as ZP44. I recently included the Speed channel on our lineup and to my dissapointment it's 85% NASCAR...

This is almost too big of a question for me. Perhaps if you could remember what was picked on the show we could all snipe at the choices. That's so much easier.

that is so subjective though, I am constantly defending Porsche against other high performance cars, such as a Vette owner, especially with the performance the new vettes have and the price is a lot lower than porsches

hawk993, this is little OT but your avatar brought a lot of memories. To me those were the best races ever with the Rothmans 962..Hans Stuck, Derek Bell, Al Holbert.... wow

Mark, if you are a MacLaren F1 fan, you should get the book that my girlfriend got me a couple of years ago about the developement of the car: "Driving Ambition." It is spectacular from an engineering, business and of course, design standpoint.

ZP44, I saw the same program on Discovery [South Pacific]. It's a series called "The Best of". They've done cars, tanks, helicopters, motorbikes [won by a Honda Cub] and some others I forget.
