I'm not sure of the DMV laws or registration rules in California, but if this took place in Washington, and his name was on the title/registration, his signature on a release would be required to take the vehicle in trade. Are the title and/or in California?

If your friend was smart, and really cared about his old 993, he would have been down there reversing the deal.

Obviously he is neither. [/B][/QUOTE]

I live in CA. As a matter of fact, I live just up the road from this dealership and bought my Boxster from them. I just got off of the phone (Sunday, 2/26/06 @ 11:40PM) with the salesperson who sold me my car and asked him about this. He told me that the only black 993 that they've had in the past 2 months is a 98 cabriolet that one of the salespeople bought. Also, he mentioned that they got this car about a month ago.

In any case, there is no "Cool-off" period in this state. So, I think it's more than unfair to label this buy as being dumb because he can't reverse the deal.

It's a true story, poster is legit.

There are a number of ways in which multiple owners can be listed on the title. If listed as "Jane and John Doe", both signatures would be required. For our cars, they are listed as "Jane or John Doe". This way, should something unfortunate happen to either of us, we could sell the car without having to re-title the car. In the interest of full disclosure, I will note that my 911 is in my name only due to a timing issue when I registered the car - but I'll add her on.

From my perspective, if someone titles their car in their name only to prevent their spouse from selling it, there are larger underlying problems.

Hey Danny, where did you get that picture? Spy shots of me holding a LR damper as we were sorting out ride height potentiometer issues. I see our newly designed race car has made the motorsport section of Autoweek

199 days from start of clean sheet design, to testing the first car at Firebird last week. Truly a mad project schedule!!

Hey Chris -

Weird story. If that happened to me . . . there'd be A LOT of purses, shoes, clothes and jewelry being returned to their over-priced designer sellers.

Thanks for the explanation Don...then, what I don't buy is the "safety" reason...she probably got him having an affair with his secretary!!!!
