Alex,
So sorry to hear this.

When her insurance adjuster comes to inspect the car, mention that the previously silky transmission is suddenly very balky and takes quite a bit of effort to get into gear....

Sorry to hear about your 993 - that really stinks. Other Rennlisters have recommended:

Phil Thearle in Santee
Malibu Paint and Body
West Coast Specialties

Also, try searching for "San Diego Paint shops" - you should find quite a few. No personal experience with any of these shops, just read good reports from others. Good luck!

You should PM "touf" (RL name). He had a very good experience with a shop in San Diego.

BTW, very sorry to hear about the accident.... it sucks!

The only thing hurt was my car!!! Luckly for her and my car most of the damage was to the passenger door. And its' really not that bad. If she hadn't chiped paint I may have been able to take it to one of those ding only places. This looks like a complete respray to me. Her husband called me totally freaked out! All his wife told him was she smashed a "new 911". He was relieved to hear it was mostly door damage and that my car is a 95. I still don't think it will be cheap but it could have been worse!
Oh and get this...The Escalade was a rental! Her real car ( a land rover) was in the shop!! It has sensors that tell her if something is behind her to avoid an accident! Man glad my wife can drive better than that!!

So any shops in SD that can do the job????

European Auto Body is in Escondido and has a great reputation. Hoehn Porsche sends all their cars over there. There was 3 911s in there when I dropped mine off. They only do BMW, Mercedes and Porsche. My 993 is in their right now, I am supposed to get it back tomorrow I will let you know. Getting body damage really stinks but you will get over it. My wife backed into mine while it was minding its own business parked in the garage. She creamed the rear fender and boy was it ugly.

If you send your car to EAB, maybe our 993s can exchange stories... I dont think mine has heard about the stupid bantering on the 150mph ferrari thread. Yours could bring mine up to speed....

Sorry to hear this...don't forget the "diminished value" claim portion because you now own a vehicle involved with non original paint.

Talking West Coast Specialties....

Ryan Hernandez and his dad Herb do all the work for Pioneer Porsche. I have had them paint several tails for me, splitters, etc....fine work. Tell Ryan that Martin sent you in. This way when I go in someday, my price will be higher!

Dont forget to take pics before you get it repaired. They will come in handy if you have to explain to a prospective buyer what happened. I think body shop repairs show up in carfax if its an insurance claim. I may be wrong but regardless it will not be a bad idea.
