Default Fuel Pressure\Injectors

Hi guys, I am having an issuse with my 96 C4. when i go to start the car it has to start first try or it is extremly hard to start. If it is the first time it fires right up no issues. If not i have to crank and crank it over... smells like it is flooding, tons of fuel... I have not checked f/p yet, that will be first. Not sure is there issues with f/p regulator, or common problems witht the injectors, or is there something else i should look at first. I have the 993 DME relay as well... fuel? spark?

Has this problem just started when the really cold weather happened ?

Is the cranking speed normal ?

Once it is fired how does it run then ? Any other running problems ?

This could be a tough one ! Cold start is the biggest test for the battery /ignition system . Are the plugs/wires/ caps/rotors all OK ?

Looks like a bit more information is needed !

All the best

sorry, has new caps, wires, plugs, were just done along with LWF clutch, new valve cover seals, chain cover gaskets, This does not just happen on cold starts it happens when ever the car does not fire right up, once I get is started the car runs great! just hard to get it going if it does not start right away... I am sure that it must be injectors or F/P reguluator just not sure which one... I would like to know how to tell which one is causing the problem, has anyone else experienced something like this...

If it runs fine when started then its likely that the injectors/ FPR are fine. If the DME was a problem then why the flood of fuel ?You can test if it is the problem by making up a three way bridge from some thick wire and 1/4 inch blades .

Has this happened since the LFW ?If the gap between the crank sensor and timing ring on the flywheel is too big this is the effect .Cranking does not generate a big enough signal for the DME to work !

What is the cranking speed like ? Is it good and lively or a bit "chuggy " ( a new technical term ? ).

All the best

Cranking is fine. Lots of speed. Do you know which terminals to jumper?

30,87,87b . Use some reasonable wire for 10 amps current.

Good luck

Thought it was plug wires but no.....

When I unplug #2 Fuel injector, no drop off in idle....can the FI's be cleaned????

It has been strongly recommended that sending all 6 fuel injectors for cleaning and flow balancing will make an improvement. One of these days I will do just that.

She's clogged alright......

By depressing the nozzle with a 1.5mm allen wrench I could blow through it.....then it clogged up again .....

You might also check the temp. sensor 2,located at the rear of #3 cyl. head,if it has a poor conection to the head that might do it.cheers,Sonny.

The cheapest place I've found was Cruzin Performance in Michigan, they charge $12USD per injector.
