Default LWF should I or should I not? final decision!

I have a 1994 euro 993 and mod will be carry out in a few days on 8:32 rack and pinion, LSD and LWF. Now I can still think over the LWF back out if necessary since I am concern with the drivability and stalling issue. Can someone comment whether this is going to be worth it for my 94 version. I attend twice a year track event and do drive quite a bit in city as well. I really want that faster respond but ...you know the problem.

Please help!! Thanks in advance for all the comments.

I like the mod a lot for my 97, though it does make standing starts a bit trickier. The noise doesn't bother me at all. I actually like the noise. Can't speak for the 95s but if you are really concerned, you could go Andial mid-weight.

For a MY94 IIRC you may have to make a small adjustment to the software.

Come to think of it I don't even know if my 94 manufactured 993 has the OBD or the OBD1? any one can fill me in?

Unfortunately NONE of the aftermarket software solutions actually work. The only fix is to manually adjust the idle speed valve.

I have RS clutch and flywheel in my car, along with Rennsport's (Steve Weiner) progamming in my 97.

The idling is perfect. I do not find it difficult to drive, nor do I have any stalling issues. It was installed by Jeff Gamroth so I don't know what magic touch he added to it. When I talked to him, he did mention that he kept the stock pressure plate for everyday drivability.

I love the quickness of the rev. Yes, there are more noises. Some rattling noise during idle. But it's not bad. Adds some rawness to the car's character.

Hi Winsome,

I've been looking into this for when my clutch needs replacing and apparently some earlier cars suffer from the stalling issue but people seem to have been able to resolve this through ISV valve adjustment and mapping. Apparently it's a bit of a lottery!

Put it this way, I'll be doing it to my car when the time comes. Good luck.

Cheers,

David

It's a no brainer. Go ahead & do it, you should be fine. I spent the extra $ & went with the Andial MWF. I like it just fine, but if I had to do it over again, I would go LWF. The reason being I am more informed now, & have heard of very few people that's didn't like the LWF on the '95.

I wasn't sure about this one until I realized you meant ring & pinion right? At first I thought you were installing a different steering rack...

Do it. Biggest gain for the smallest $$s you can do to these cars. On the 94/95s as Jason mentioned, you may have to bump the idle a smidge. VERY easy to do. I'd say 85% of the time I installed a LWF setup on a 95 though, it did not even need any adjustment....

What faster respond? I have to hold my foot on the gas lightly during an upshift to get a smooth shift on my '95 with stock flywheel. No need for a lighter flywheel.

Track two times a year? Then live with what you've got - you're not in the 24 Hours of Le Mans competing for a trophy.

There is a medium-weight flywheel available too. Might be a good compromise.

Went through this decision a month ago. Discussed with 2 local very well respected P-car shops and both said go with stock for a daily driver with one or two track events a year. Giving up some refinement in the driving experience for modest gain. Said they get complaints....

Think it's a personal decision on where you draw the line between performance and ease of use or comfort. Most of us Rennlisters probably fall on the performance side but many P-car owners, here in So Cal anyway, just want a nice comfortable performance car.
