This is what the TSB says
'Drill a 5 mm diameter hole below the roof edge approximately 65 mm from center from the outside. Remove all burrs and cover any exposed metal paint to prevent corrosion.'

How much would it cost to get someone to remove the glass and replace it?

The wires themselves is the easy part, and drilling holes or forcing things at the edge of the glass may be risky.

Just a thought but it may be cheaper than a new glass.

My 3rd brakelight was just fixed by my mechanic. He found a broken wire in the roof area and soldered it. I don't know exactly how or where he accessed the wire, but I assume it had to be thru the zipper in the headliner.? I can get more info as to where the break was and how it was accessed if you like.

Usually the two wires are soldered to the the solder glass pads on the inside of the rear windsheild. These wires come unsoldered and break free from the pads. They can be reattached using liquid copper foil pen sold at Radio Shack for repairing circuit board foils. Just brake it open and using a toothpick put some on the pad and the wire and tape them in place for about an hour. Then with a toothpick build up more liquid copper to add strength on top of the pad. Mine are still fine after 6 months.
Total cost for the repair $5 and one hour, Chris
