wanted: high mileage 993
Not sure if this is allowed on Rennlist... please remove if it is against the rules..
I am looking to buy a higher mileage 993 (over 100,000) in good condition that has been maintained. Would love something with lower miles but at this point I can only afford something around the $22,000.00 dollar range which leaves me some extra $$$ for little things that might come up.. I have seen a few high mile examples sell in this price range.
Anyone here considering selling? If so please pm me. Thanks

(edit - sorry, in case you don't understand my humor...I would be very, very surprised if you found a "well maintained" 993 for your price range.)

Come on Adrienne, I'm sure there are a number of 993's in the New Orleans area in this price range. Just don't mind the funky smell!
All kidding aside, TF, you'll have to be pretty diligent and patient to find a car for $26k-$28k as you described it. That's about the lowest I've seen. Even then, it would likely have problems.

Doesn't seem too out of line to me. There's a '95 w/ 148k miles that's sat unsold for several months at $24.8k - and that's at a dealer (http://www.calmotorsport.com/inventory.htm). You could probably do better from a private party.

To reach $22k even with 100k miles, it will have to have some damage history or other issues...or significantly more miles...
Even this fire damaged (but repaired) 993 twin turbo with 117k miles is still being offered in the mid 40s...http://www.oklahomaforeign.com/vehicles.asp...and it even has PSS9s....all 993s retain value.

Okay...who's your buddy...I did a nationwide search on Autotrader. Limiting to $23k, two came up. If you don't mind salvage title and original suspension at 112k miles, check this one:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...n&cardist=1057
Or how about this one, with a funky 2-tone green interior and original suspension at 99k miles in New York:

I did a local search. No luck.

I agree that this is next to impossible. But, I did check out a local car for a RLer that was a '95 with 110,000 miles. New LWF, clutch, sport seats and was in great shape. A few cosmetic issues, but a nice car. $25,000. I thought it was a solid deal, but probably one in a million.

I paid $22,000 for this one owner with 153,000 miles. I have driven it for 2,000 miles since I bought it 6 weeks ago. I have replaced the wiring harness (recall), the oil pressure sensor, mounted matching front tires and it needs front brakes. Rear tires have new tread to match the new fronts; all four are Toyo T1-R. The PO replaced the suspension with Bilstein HD's.
The car sat for 6 months before I drove it home. It burned a quart of oil off the first 1,000 miles…I drove her briskly, Yea! The second 1,000 miles has seen no burn off (as a matter of fact I had to sucked some oil out because it was slightly overfilled...OK I'm learning).
I have changed the transmission fluid and the brake fluid. I have cleaned the Idle Control Valve. Of course she is polished and waxed to a smooth shine.
Compression test are acceptable. It had a fresh paint job when I bought it. The dealer who I bought it from also repaired the curb rash on the wheels...poorly but it still looks OK. They also replaced the speedo and the rear rotors and pads.
This car needs nothing, the first $28,000 drives it home!
