Thank you - that was catless! Here's the catted version:

Standard RS speedlines or the magnesium center lock version?

The first ones weight more than the Sport Classic II (and same identical size), while the lightest ever original 993 wheels magnesium version are still few kgs heavier than the OZ alleggerita (same size again) which from what I saw so far are the lightest on the market with homologation (for open roads at least)

The main reason to install the Speedlines I think is having something very close to white murble sculptures as wheels...aesthetic, and they are as expensive as marble.

Original RS Magnesium 5 Lug, and weight difference notwithstanding, I will gladly admit that the reason for hunting them down is the aesthetics.. They are simply a beautiful set of Wheels..

That's not really right ....
as the OZ A... are already very light, the lightest wheels ever manufactured for the 993 came through BBS as special edition from Manthey. In 2004 for about EUR 8,000.
Magnesium 7.2 / 7.8 kg for narrow body; that's still about 1kg less per rim compared to the OZs.

btw. extreme beautiful ...

Wow, nice light wheels! Thank you for the info i didnt know,
Where they made as special edition only in yellow gold?

But OZs A are still in production, probably not as beautiful as these BBS for Manthey or the RS Speedline, but very light, the lightest, let's say in production, reliable and made of light alloy (not magnesium) so they are much less stiff, which is also good for the track.

But these Manthey made by BBS would be perfect for the yellow 993 I am getting resurrected...

OZ A are: 7,72kg front - 8,78kg rear

Front you save 1,2kgs, rear 2kgs = 3,3kgs totally more than the beautiful ones you mentioned

Good option. I love light wheels - I’ve been a little obsessed with them lately given the performance advantages. Magnesium wheels can be a little tricky for the road, in terms of durability and the ability to repair locally.

My HRE R101 weigh in that range (between 16-20 lb) and are aluminum. Picking them up was a revelation in terms lightness compared to the Turbo twist anchors. The difference in acceleration, particularly in first gear, is pronounced and the drop in power from the 1-2 shift is much less obvious (here the combination of lightweight flywheel and light wheels really helps - almost like a re-gear).

These are mag? I though the only versions that were mag were the ones used on the GT2 and the supecup cars. I had a set of the mag GT2 wheels which were a different sizing 9&11". The supercup wheels were 8.5&10" and did not have the 5 holes drilled for the lugs and both the GT2 and Cup and any Porsche mag centered wheels had flat backs. The RS were aluminum centers in 8&10". Still a great looking wheel although the mag wheels weren't as light as they would be if they cast the centers the same as the aluminum ones. They beefed up the centers to add strength but also added weight.

Let's see if we can steer this thread more to the top five 993 mods and maybe less of a wheel, exhaust, air box, etc. thread.

Thanks, everyone.

My list after years of ownership, various mods, and general experience with the car:

1. Suspension
2. Headlight projector upgrade (not HIDs necessarily, but the actual projector. Combine with HIDs for best results, theretrofitsource.com)
3. RS flywheel / clutch
4. Lightness (recaros are a great example, really transforms the car)
5. Best tires you can afford

1. Re-gear transmission. 2nd thru 6th
2. RS flywheel
3. Suspension. PSS10 and RS sway bars.
4. Exhaust. Fabspeed was my choice
5. Powder coat brake calipers. They are awesome stock, but adding som red flare on these beauties really brings them front and center.

Glad you asked! My car is an early '95, US model, so I was able to switch out 2nd fairly easily. I did the following gears (Guard Gear, steel synchros):
2nd: 2.25
3rd: 1.65
4th: 1.286
5th: 1.040
6th: 0.821 (euro 6th - so nice)

I mainly street, but have done auto-cross and track with these gears - perfect.

My car is a 1995 too

But I'm not sure yet if early

Why not putting 5th gear to 6th ?

Whats the euro 6th , plz tell me more?

No stalling issue with the RS flywheel? I thought it was the case with 95 cars ?

Try driving 80mph+ in your 5th gear for hours. Is it ok for you? Wasn't for me.

Euro 6th just means that I picked the same ratio as the euro tranny box 6th gear. Perfect at 80mph range.

It did stall initially but this was adjusted/fixed by the TRG team up in Sonoma ca. I forgot how they fixed it but no stalling after 15yrs with this setup.

1) Suspension: PSS9s with M030 springs (RS)
2) Lighter 18" wheels (I like the Speedlines)
3) Goldenrod shift kit (RS)
4) HID lights
5) ECU Flash
