Default CD Changer (CDC-1) No Workie

The CD changer in my newly acquired '95 is not working. I get the E01 error on the head unit. I've tried cleaning the connector, to no avail. I would assume it would cost more than it's worth to have it repaired. Are there any current replacement units that are compatible? Or better yet, if you have a CDC-1 you no longer use, I'd be willing to buy it from you.

Thanks!

Bruce

You can get teh CDC3 from SW Stereo. I may have a CDC3 available in a few weeks (or months depending on when I get back to LA)....purchased from SW and hardly used.

Thanks. I'm have to admit, I don't even use the stereo very much yet, because I just got the car and I'm listening to the engine, but it would be nice to be able to play cds.

Thanks again.

I am not sure if my cd changer is the same brand as yours but occasionally the oem head unit displays err 01 too. Rejecting the cds holder and pushing it back solves the problem for me.

Bruce,

Not sure what a CDC-1 changer is (Becker?), but I have a Becker 10 disc unit that stopped working (disk was stuck inside). I sent to Becker in NJ for repair. $53 COD plus my shipping costs to Becker and it works good-as-new.

Before you do anything, pull it apart for a quick look. They are quite simple to dismantle to a certain level, and when the same thing happened to mine, it was just a matter of pulling a spring back, which seemed to be " out of sync" the the rest of the mechanism , and hey presto, been working brilliantly for 2 years now.
Cheers Lyndon

I think the CDC-1 is Alpine. And I do not believe the CDC-3 (which was OEM in the MY97 TT) will be compatible with the radio in your MY95 if it is the CDR-1.
I believe the CR-1 was the last radio to have the cassette player.

I have the same set up and my CDC-1 (Alpine) stopped working one day while changing discs. No Err message on my head unit. I will try and dismantle it as you say (I've got nothing to loose).

My Radio was playing on my right channel for a while then started back to normal again one day. These older PCars have issues at times but I love my 993 anyhow!

I've been using my MiniIPOD with FM transmitter with decent results since then and still can listen to all my CD tunes at least!
