Rebuilt, re-Powder Coated Big Reds
#16
I definitely want to refinish my calipers at some point, but they're black. I'll do them black again of course, but it won't be as rewarding as seeing a set of shiny Big Reds ready to reinstall !!

you could always powder coat them black!!! I'm really thinking about yanking my black ones off and brining them to the shop where I use to work just to see if I can get them as nice as what Chris did. If anyone is interested ou should be able to get these coated to withstand high heat but I'd have to check to see what the coating should be.

I paid around $550 for a full (front and rear) big red rebuild kit (pistons, seals and dust boots)....
eric did the rebuild in my case but I didn't bother having him re-powdercoat since they'd just get toasted on the track again anyway... for a street driven porsche the powercoating job is EXCELLENT!

I'm also interested if anyone has tried the Harbor Freight powder coating set up???? I've got the blast cabinet and compressor and I'm sure my wife won't mind me using the kitchen oven!!!

I've used the Eastwood powder coating set-up at home for several years (www.eastwoodco.com - no affiliation, etc..) with very nice success. have not done calipers yet, but have done brackets, valve covers, grills, suspension parts, etc on a variety of cars.
