You're too kind. I'll follow up when the time/financing is right.

On a somewhat related note, did you ****** up that set of black G-series sport seats that were on Ebay for $400 Buy-It-Now? I was negotiating shipping, prior to bidding, when some guy from Texas swooped in and bought them with cost of shipping being a non-issue. I couldn't help but think it might be you.

I just did a set for Rudy(Opo) in burgundy and have some leather left over, enough for another burgundy set. I also have cores. Also I do have another set in black $ 2999.99 shipped in the CONUSA

I can't speak highly enough about the quality of Lart's seats, and Lart's service. Quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and he stands proudly by his work.

Totally agree that soft back sport seats are perhaps the most comfortable --- take a peek at the 911uk.com bulletin board -- http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=778...light=softback --- opinions there are similar --- the hardbacks have a nicer look than the soft backs, but the soft backs are more comfortable.

I tried to realize the best of both worlds (comfort and aesthetics) by taking another direction in the aesthetics department w/ the soft backs.

One can use 928, 944, 951, 964, or 968 soft back sport seat cores if one wants to reupholster....

Are those the 928 soft backs?

Indeed .... They are 928 seats. The inserts, with their additional cushioning, make them very comfortable. Your handiwork displayed above in the burgundy and black seats is super impressive.

I did find one shop that does these conversions by adding new aftermarket metal supports, but it's just not the same seat.
I was at my Indy’s shop yesterday and was lucky enough to catch him converting a pair of regular seat frames to sport seat frames. The two seats are vastly different as noted in the photos. The plan is to weld the additional sport bars to regular seat core so his customer can have 8 way sport seats. This is just the first step, and the seats will go elsewhere for foam, etc. Lots of work, but given the rising prices of sport seats we may be seeing more of this.

I had factory soft sport seats in my 1985 911 Targa- man they were nice- fit like a glove- so much so i'd forget to put the seatbelt on! Great idea with the conversion!

@Foxman Thank you for the pics as reference! Before he retired, Paul Champagne told me that welding the additional support bars onto regular seats to make sport seats was fairly straightforward, but that the new foam part was an art form in itself…..he mentioned as well that foam technology (which I know nothing about) had changed by leaps and bounds in the past 40+ years ….. I wonder where your indy is sending the converted frames out for refoaming?

Default Good luck

@Foxman

I hired Classic 9 to do that conversion and it did not work out well.

Bob at Classic 9 said they did that conversion routinely but the work quality was substandard, the shape/contours were off, etc.

Fortunately he paid me back for the used seats and the seat heaters I sent him and he sold them to someone else.

At this point I’d only buy from Lart or find a factory set.

Oh that is disappointing to hear - I am sorry you had that experience. Were both of your experiences w Classic 9 before or after Rob Budd retired?

FWIW I had my doors and dash done by C9 when Rob Budd was there and I was thrilled w the results. However, I elected to have my seats done specifically by Paul Champange as his reputation for quality work was unmatched (check out all his work for 928 folks - the 928 community on RL is incredibly resourceful and technically super capable.)

That said Paul retired some years ago …. So now is Lart the king of seat (and specifically seat) upholstery?
