Default Group Buy - Suspension (either PSS9 or HD/M030)

QUOTES FINALIZED - Are you in??

I have now completed obtaining quotes from various sources on the Group Buy and have also received the okay from John D. So, below are the result of my searching.

Please let me know if you are interested in participating in this Group Buy, by posting to this thread.

I don't plan on listing those that I contacted and their respective quotes. However, I will mention that it does not appear that Gert at Carnewal will be able to improve on his current pricing. He is currently "discussing" with Bilstein various matters relating to the extra thread configuration. It doesn't look like it will be resolved anytime in the near future. Gert mentioned, however, that the pricing he currently has on his website is actually from early 2005, which should have been raised. However, for those that are interested, you can still buy the Bilstein HD/M030/Sway kit for the price listed on his website. This ~might~ be a better solution for those not in the U.S.

The best pricing I was able to get was from ViperBob (Bob Brooks). As many of you know, Bob used to work for Devek, but now is in Florida on his own. He has provided the following pricing in the various configurations, so it would be up to you to decide what you want. This is probably the best solution given that we have people with different setups they're interested in. He has also indicated that the Bilstein HD shocks that he will be supply WILL include the extra 30mm thread AND a full lifetime Bilstein US warranty.

Although Bob is not let a Rennlist Sponsor, he is currently in the process of getting it set up. That being said, John D. indicated to me that although we certainly want to support the sponsors, if they can't meet the price, then it is up to us to decide who gets our business.

Here are the configuration options (please note they do NOT include shipping, which Bob indicated is probably about $25-50 depending on where you live.) I will post information about expected shipping times and payment information in the next couple of days. Each configuration option includes all the necessary mounting hardware:

~Option 1 - HD's only~ $1050
Includes:
- (4) Bilstein HD shocks (with 30mm extra threads and lifetime US warranty from Bilstein)

~Option 2 - HD's and RoW M030 Springs~ $1400
Includes:
- (4) Bilstein HD shocks (with 30mm extra threads and lifetime US warranty from Bilstein)
- (4) RoW M030 Springs

~Option 3 - HD's, Row M030 Springs, M030 Sways~ $1850 (C2) / $1700 (C4)
Includes:
- (4) Bilstein HD shocks (with 30mm extra threads and lifetime US warranty from Bilstein)
- (4) RoW M030 Springs
- (1) Front 22mm M030 Sway Bar
- (1) Rear 20mm M030 Sway
Bar
- (2) Rear Drop Links
- (2) Front Drop Links (C2 package ONLY)

~Option 4 - PSS-9 only~ $2100 (INCLUDING shipping)
Includes:
- (4) Bilstein PSS-9

~Option 5 - PSS-9 and TRG Sways~ $2725 (INCLUDING shipping)
Includes:
- (4) Bilstein PSS-9
- (2) Front/Rear TRG Sway Bars

Both the Bilstein HD/M030 setup and the PSS-9 setup allow the car to be lowered to Euro specs.

Who am I?
I organized the Car Cover Group Buy through Gert last Fall, which I think went well (had over 24 or so participate). All money would be paid directly to the vendor, not me.

The webpage lists the following:

"The Bilstein shocks come with a 2 year unlimited warranty"

so, I suspect not. Do those purchased elsewhere provide a longer warranty?

Bilstein's US warranty is lifetime. Products bought outside the US are not covered by US warranty. You may check with Gert, but I believe his warranty is through Carnewal and not Bilstein.

I am interested but it depends on two factors: pricing and timing.

I was going to pull the trigger on the H&R spring/Bilstein HD combo ($1400) within a week or two. If the group by prices gets closer to this cost and will not take that long to be shipped, I'm in.

Thanks for getting this put together.

Matt -

Does your pricing include the stabilizer bars, bushings, and drop links? Who were you going to purchase from?

Dang, I just purchased that kit & installed right before Christmas - oh well . I added a strut brace as well. All I can say it that you'll love your "new" car!

Eric -

Did you go through Gert for your install? We were put off by the 2 year warranty vs. the lifetime?

Yes, I purchased from Gert. I'm not really put off by the warranty as two years is fair, failure rates are very low and rebuild costs are inexpensive. I don't track the car (at least not yet), so I'm not too worried.

What I did find out after the fact (via ViperBob) is that the extra threads now come standard on the U.S. 993 shocks. Even still, Gert's kit is a competitive deal.

I'm seriously interested here in London, so please include us from over the pond if possible.

Thanks. Al.

I'm interested, with usual considerations for price and timing.
