Default wide oval tips

Hi everyone:
I noticed on e-bay there is a brand new set of wide oval tips for sale. They are being sold by a company called Departstop and are advertised as being made by Dansk who is an O.E.M supplier to Porsche. Does anyone know if these are the same that Carnewal is selling? Has anyone purchased these and if so what is your opinion to their quality and fit. Thanks Tony

They are not the factory ovals. I have yet to find an aftermarket tip that fits like the factory ovals. I am on the picky side of how tips fit these cars. Maybe I am too critical

Just about all of the aftermarket tips stick out way too far, IMO..

I agree with Chris, OEM big ovals are expensive but they do look just right!

There is no subsitute for the OEM wide ovals, they are a pretty penny but worth it. You might want to check these out on ebay, they look very similar to the factory ones but waaay cheaper. No affliation, yada yada http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1994-...28283158QQrdZ1

The Dansk tips are good quality for the money (at least compared to the rudely over-priced factory wide ovals :-)) The main difference in fitment is that they are more squared off than the factory ones which follow the bumper line closely. As Chris notes above, the result is similar protrusion on the inside edge but a bit more (1/2") on the outside edge.

They look like OEM big ovals. If they are genuine that is a bargain price!

This is the second time this seller lists these tips. Not sure if the deal didn't go through or he has more than one set. Anyway, I asked him if they are oem, no reply.

I am too. That's why before I got my aftermarket mufflers I called the person who makes them to have him assure me that my factory wide ovals will fit his mufflers on my widebody just like the factory mufflers.

He was right they fit perfectly.

Tony,
Here are two pics showing the factory 'big ovals' on my 993. Former owner coughed up $500 for these beasts:

Hey! I just bought a set of those tips from that ebay Corvette guy.

Fitted them today and they look good and fit well too... It's dark and in the garage now, but I'll try and sneak a few pictures in the morning.

He also has some nice looking rolled edge ones too for a few bucks more.

As far as the Ebay transaction went - smooth as silk. Fast delivery and well packed. They don't have any markings or part numbers on them though.

I also bought a set from that Ebay guy...he said that HE makes them! They are no comparison to factory big ovals, but an almost dead ringer for the Dansk tips.....

Clive, those are the best aftermarket tips I have seen. Thanks for the pics!
