Default Cigar Lighter Insert (sleeve)

Happy New Year to everyone.

For a 993, does anyone know where I can find an insert or sleeve to fit into the cigar lighter to allow a north american cigarette lighter adapter to fit firmly?

If you go into a store that sells cell phones, they'll often have extras of these sitting in a drawer gathering dust. Usually a freebie.

Does anyone have evidence this is still the case?

If you just need a temporary ghetto solution, you can use a zip tie and wrap it around the plug 1-2 and under the prongs (if it has any). I did this with the plug for my Passport 9500ix until I get a chance to hard wire it.

For my V1, I pulled the radio out, picked up a hot switched wire, ran the cord out the right side of the dash, up the door jamb and along the base of the windshield. You cannot see it, except for the 4 inch portion connected to the V1.

Radio removal tools are readily available at car stereo places, and are also used to remove the climate control unit (CCU) to wire up the aux oil cooler fan switch. Use phone wire that matches the color of your dash.

I just folded a thin piece of cardboard and inserted it not touching the metal sides of the plug in. This has worked for 7 years now - no slippage.

I neatly wrapped black electrical tape around the plug. It now has a nice non slip grip!
