Default Happy holidays to me

Hi. I am introducing myself. Or my car, either way. I previously had a 3.0 1972 914/6 (http://tinyurl.com/abf8y) and decided it would be nice to have something less fragile. I had looked at both 964s and 993s and came close a few times but buyer's remorse set in before I cut checks. Fast forward to mid-October when my mechanic found me a local 1995 993C2. I was not looking for a garage queen since I will track it, but it was straight enough.

When I got it the car was already chipped. To bring it up to snuff I bought a hood (a poorly repaired ding had rusted through), had it painted by Julio (if you need bodywork in CT -- or NY or NJ -- call me, he had a terrific Allard there, and a series 1 E-type, etc), and bought a cat (to make it DOT compliant). I installed JIC Cross coilovers, a pair of GT3 seats from The Speed Gallery (forgive the shameless plugs and yes, they fit but are a PIA to install), a three spoke Atiwe steering wheel from FVD, pedals from AJ USA and a Hargett Precision dead pedal. Also a CDR210, two sets of 18" twists (one for the track and one for the street), a new shift **** and boot, a front protection bar from SCARGO, a storage bin (to replace the ridiculous OEM cassette storage thing) from Carnewal, a harness bar, five point camlocks, the all-important bumper plugs and clear stone protection film for the bumper, some of the hood, etc. from armorglove.com in Cos Cob (they are great people to work with) and voila! Major thanks to Spencer *** (http://farnbacherloles.com/) and Julio.

I am in LOVE with my 993. The suspension is fantastic. The seats, ditto. Everything. I am mad about it.

The seats are excellent. Roomier than the Sparcos I had in the teener (I am 6'2 and 220) but still plenty snug.

Lawrence, nice car. How about some pics of the interior? I just bought alot of the same parts (went with the roll bar instead of the harness) and am in the process of installing. I am 6-3 and having trouble with the seats (they certainly don't work with the GT3 sliders!). I'd love to know how you mounted yours and see how all of the parts interact with one another.

Very nice,

Ok. Here goes, in no particular order. First, thanks for all the complements re ride height, options and the color. I have (ahem) "used" the FPB I think four times already this weekend. Which, actually, makes me sort of pleased since it was obviously a good investment!

Wilton is really pretty. My GF was from there; we are in Greenwich, a bit Southwest. But Wilton is that much closer to Lime Rock.

Here are some pictures of the interior. As to the seats I used the BK side mounts and the Recaro sliders (the Recaro slider is built significantly better than the Sparco everyone recommends). The holes on the BK and the slider will not line up and they must be widened/elongated as necessary. But honestly, that is not a big deal, and afterwards all is a snap.

The CDR210 is not in yet and I just today decided to go instead for an Apple Nano-friendly unit. (Anyone want a CDR?) That will go in next Wednesday. What else? I still need to sort out my squirters (which do not squirt, and despite refilling, seem to empty themselves -- grrr) and come Springtime (before the first DE), vented brake ducts will replace the fog lights. And that should be that. (Well, OK, the GF wants to install a black e-brake as well. Again, Springtime...)

If you saw the post on my Teener it is pretty clear I am not afraid of modifications. But the slope ought not to be so steep this time. Anyway, I wanted to get it all done at once so the thing is ready for the track without scrambling. The Teener was kind of an endless treadmill and I wished to stop the madness. I think I did.

You must be short? I have the Gt3 sliders and couldn't even think about using them in my car. I'm having to fabricate a "bolt it to the floor" system just to get some head room. how tall are you?
