Steve,

Did you pick them up already? Which Costco did you go to, Semi Valley? I didn't see it here at the Santa Clarita Warehouse.

My Sears 2 ton racing jack blew a seal 3 weeks ago after having been purchased in February. Sears replaced it at no charge but mentioned that their warranty has changed and now stands at 90 days after which a restocking fee is charged. The jack worked great until then though a bit heavier than other traveling jacks.

Tony,

Yes, I got it in Simi Valley. They had about half a dozen on the shelf. They also didn't have it in the Westlake Costco. Let me know if you want me to pick one up for you.

Chris, Thanks for the bday wish.

For those with the DK20 and lowered to ROW height or lower - any problems? I'm thinking of getting either the DK20 or the DK13HLQ, which is longer and should be more capable of reaching engine jack points and to jack the car higher. Has anyone ever bought from ASE?

Tony,

I just called, and they are closed (at 8:30). I'll try to get one picked up tomorrow for you. Are you sure you want a lightweight jack? They also have a 2-ton jack that doesn't come with anything else... also $100. About 55 pounds, but very solid looking. Did you see that one at your Costco? (this one was also in the Westlake Costco).

On the AC "DL" question. I love my DL13HLQ. I fits nicely under my lowered TT and gets me onto tall jack stands in one lift. I use my AC DL13 for everything but my migh pick up. When I use my "regular" 3T floor jack, it seems so crude compared to the AC.

Even with the extra weight of the steel jack, I heft the DL13 to the track simply for the convenience of the one lift routine. The jack is not that much much of a hassle when you are already getting a car on/off a trailer. I guess those who drive their cars to the track, it would not be as easy...

Don't forget to get a 'polish lollipop' to keep from messing up the underside of the car. (Jacking plate). For the later cars they look more like a kids top with urethane tips to keep from messing up the bottom of the car. The earlier ones fit right into the jacking slots on the sides of the 911.

OK Steve let me see if I have this right. You are going to jack up your RUF and put it on jack stands leaving the tires elevated off the ground. Are you sure you really want to do this???

Viperbob,

Thanks for the huge vote of confidence. First, I have to learn how to put air in the tires. Then I will attempt the jack the car up thing. Confession. I already took the wheels off in order to use wheel wax on the backsides. My wife thinks I'm crazy. I'm sure you guys understand.

I ended up with the smaller aluminum jack from Costco. Comes as a kit with nice jack stands and a very nice creeper. I think I'll put a potted plant on the creeper.

I have the heavy Michelin Floor Jack from the CND Tire. I love the jack as its well made but it does not fit under my lowered 993 and I', pretty bummed about it. The Aluminum Michelin Jack looks to be very well made but I think its about 400 bucks or so. I did not get it because I already have a pro Aluminum race jack for my race car and I thought I would get something to eventually change tires on a forthcoming X3 that we will be placing an order for this coming year. The Aluminum Jack will not lift anything more than a 993 or a another sedan of similar weight...

Hockey pucks (about a buck each) work well to protect the jacking points on Boxster/993+ P cars. BTW, thanks to Ray Calvo for that tip years ago.

Steve
I think I found the perfect jack for you - light weight, just $20 & it won't get you into any trouble.

Link: VERY portable racing jack.
