Hey, Stock is beautiful. The classic 5 spoke OE rim of the 993 (huge…. 17” in the C2S case) is visually not too shabby or simply explained as object constancy after so long. The 993s are going on ten years plus old and the original wheel look has its place mark in the 911s production - and to think I was close to the stepping off the curb point with a set of light weight and gorgeous BBSs.... Dam! Edit, the 5 spoke Techart wheels .... Very nice understated look...
Nice thread … there’s some good look ‘in wheels here.

Finally I got my CAB back from the shop. I got my black powder coated rims on and my break caliper painted in yellow with black Porsche script. Also I got my exhaust tips powder coated black so that now everything is black except for the caliper.
I'm very pleased with the color combination. However, I'm not happy with the paint quality of the caliper. I have a set of spare caliper which I'll now get powder coated yellow.
Sorry for the quality of the picture. early morning sun ;-)
Any opinion on the color combination?
Jack

Tropheus,
Looks good. Tinted windows next?? I look forward to seeing it on the next Arrwin drive. I remember seeing your fly yellow '97 a couple of drives ago.

I was expecting those new Dymags to look too modern or high tech for the 993, but they seem to work. I'd consider Champion and Forgeline, especially in wide-body cars where you can stuff 12 inches under the rear. (so to speak)
I know Dymag has a bad reputation for failed wheels (on bikes and cars) and their various explanations for failures don't change the fact of the failure. All in all, I'd say they're cool and look good, but they no longer have the significant weight saving compared to the best of the single piece forged wheels (not that any wheel is unbreakable.)
The recent failure of the car apparently in Mexico (6spd thread) was on Hoosiers with DOT grooves, not slicks, but it was a manufacturing defect, not wear and tear. Indeed, if you're tracking a car, you have to accept the burden of higher maintenance and daily inspection. Whether anyone would seriously have discovered the crack from the stamp impression, I dunno (probably not until it was a matter of a few laps before catastrophic failure.) Then again, I've inspected my cars and I never find anything (and never have failures other than the self-inflicted kind) but it might also be that I've discovered things, fixed them and thought nothing of it because it didn't come to a point of catastrophy.
I think there's a Karma in the simple act of the routine nut-and-bolt inspection. Superstition is part of taking your life and putting it in a metal box and tempting fate.
