Default OT Cranks?

Growing up I always used the term “cranks” to describe something cool; a fast car, loud stereo, etc and always thought it would be cool to put on a license plate. I never really mentioned my license plate plans to anyone and figured I’d just do it someday. When I had the right car I’d put them on and be proud of my unique license plate wit. I told my best friend Mike I was heading over to get “crank” or “cranks” as a license plate for my Porsche. He replied “Are you kidding me? Do you know what “crank” means? You’ll get pulled over by every single cop on the road”. Okay, call me naïve but I had no idea that “crank” is slang for Crystal Meth.

It actually could be interpreted many different ways. A crank can be a joke, a crank shaft, a grouchy person, etc. If Mike is right however, I need more attention from the police in my car like I need a hole in the head

BTW “Crank” is also the name on one of my favorite songs by ‘Catherine Wheel’.

So, what do you think are my long time hopes of having “cranks” as a plate squashed by the drug reference, or do think others (mainly the police) understand my interpretation of the word?

I think "cranks" cranks, but crank doesn't.
